They don’t call it the lazy days of summer for nothing, right?
Sure, with kids out of school, it really is the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer.
And, for me, there really is a lot of soda, pretzels, and beer. The beer is for me.
But I’ve added one more thing to the list.
Well, I don’t really nap in terms of falling asleep. But I stop thinking about the millions of things that I need to tackle on my to-do list.
Instead, I stretch out on the couch with my 3-year-old, who has given up naps, too, even though she really could use one, and we just snuggle.
I rub her back, and we just relax.
It’s really the most precious time of my day.
We giggle. We talk. We do it for about 20 minutes about 2 p.m., then we get back to our normal routine.
I have a feeling that when she is grown, I’ll look back on our time and wish that I could roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer naps again.
And if you’ve never heard of this catchy tune by Nat King Cole, you can enjoy it here. It will have you tapping your toes all the way to the couch for a summer nap.
What are you rolling out on those lazy, crazy days of summer this year?
