The End of School Year Anthem

Parents, is the end of the school year not the busiest time of year ever?

It may even rival prepping for Christmas. What do you think?  There are parties, picnics, field day events, and performances. My calendar looks as if one of my luxury hotel ink pens that I stole from my last stay vomited all over it.

It’s also dance recital week for me so I’m busy with the donut thing.

And then my other child asked me to be his assistant for his talent show gig in his class this week.

Apparently, his talent is making a cup out of one sheet of paper.

My parental job is to buy and hand out the paper to his classmates. He’ll be teaching them how to do it, too. I don’t know how to make a cup out of a sheet of paper so I hope I don’t have to assist anyone.

I would fail. It’s not my talent.

It’s a rather odd talent. But, he thought of it on his own. He’s creative.

The only downside of his newly found talent is that his paper cup does not hold water like he thought it would.

We will not be taking a pitcher of water with us for the demonstration.

We tested it at home, and it didn’t go well.

I guess you could say his talent is folding paper.

So, that wraps up a busy school year us.

The school year has been short and long at the same time. How is that possible?

I always take some time off at the beginning of the summer as I learn to adjust my writing schedule with two kids constantly by my side. If not, I may shut down again.

I’ll be back here with fresh content on June 25. Be sure to follow the HinesSightBlog to keep up, in case you miss me.  I also have a great Italian Summer Salad recipe on the blog this week that you may enjoy making in the heat of summer.

It’s time to put my toes in the sand.  Well, I don’t do sand, but you get the idea. I’ll look at the sand with a glass of wine in my hand that I didn’t overcook because I kept it in the car for less than 15 minutes.

Hmmm. It’s takes more than 15 minutes to get from the island grocery to the rental house.

Better switch to my TOPO vodka tonic.

Happy Summer!  Thank goodness it’s here.  Ask me if I feel the same after three solid weeks of no school.
