2009 Triangle Halloween Guide

Budget cuts have taken a bit of the bite out of area Halloween celebrations. But we've still got more than 60 Halloween events on the TriangleMom2Mom calendar from the BOO at the N.C. Zoo to Natural History Halloween at the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences to a host of other big and small celebrations across the Triangle.

For the full list of Halloween events that is searchable by date and location, click here.

If you're looking for pumpkin patches and haunted houses that are open multiple days this fall, keep reading. The attractions are listed by county. Be sure to clink on the links, which will take you to the farm or haunted house's Web site.

We took our baby (then 8 months old) to Hill Ridge Farms last fall, and it was a blast. Even at that young age, she loved the train ride and even got a kick out of the pumpkin patch. It's such a great deal. And, the people there are so nice. Can't wait to go back this year.

We went to Hill Ridge last year too and my daughter had a great time. It's like a mini-amusement park really. We also checked out Ganyard Hill as well which is definitely more low key - not nearly as many amusements - but my then three-year-old had a blast.

Do yo know if the Hays family is decorating their home in Cary this year? I understand they usually decorate for the entire month of October. Last year, it was quite a site to see!

Ken does a great job with his yard. Nothing gory or too scary. Here's details!

HAYS HALLOWEEN HOUSE DRIVE-BY My family enjoys decorating our house and yard each Halloween for the local kids and adults to enjoy. All the displays, animatronics, pneumatics and motorized props are focused on fun, not gory settings, so kids of all ages can enjoy. - Over 15 Ghosts flying around the yard. - 30 foot hand-made spiderweb. - Ghosts dancing around a campfire. - Exclusive comedy show by the "Funny-Bone Brothers" (they are animated skeletons appearing nightly). - much more. We have been doing this for a few years now and each year we add more and more props. Props operate each night; dusk - 9:30ish however, rain and high winds may prevent some props from operating. We are about 1 mile from the Kildaire Farm Rd. and Ten-Ten Rd. intersection in Cary, NC. The address is 4309 Hawksong Place, Cary, NC 27518
