the 2nd grade
I have a 8 yr old daughter who is in the 2nd grade. She is having a hard time with reading, handwriting etc. She always wants to be first complete her school work in class and she ends up getting terrible grades. I have done everything I know to do to get her to understand that school is very important and she acts as if she does not care. Can someone please give me some tips on helping her slow down and how do make her slow down doing homework and schoolwork and school tests.
I am on my last straw.

I have an eight year old in the third grade with the same issues, mostly regarding writing. She mis-spells words she knows how to spell and her handwriting is very messy. Her problem is that she rushes also. I am trying to be patient and make her go back and write neater and spell correctly, but it can be nerve-wracking. Wish I had answers, just wanted you to know you were not alone.
