Artsplosure 2009

The 30th anniversary ARTSPLOSURE - THE RALEIGH ARTS FESTIVAL will be held on May 16th and 17th in downtown Raleigh.  If you have never attended this event, this year would be a great year to be your first.  The two day venue includes music, and arts and crafts market, and kidsplosure which are special activities and events for children.  The festival will have art exhibitions from schools all over the Triangle, a Marbles Museum exhibit, acrobats, an opportunity to create custom music on 8 keyboards, sand art, carboard art, a life sized chess set, and musical performers from all over the world.  Based on my past experience, leave yourself plenty of time to find parking and get to the event if there are specific performers who you want to see.  This is a very popular festival and since it is in its 30th year, it is one that people are aware of.

This is an excellent opportunity to expose children of all ages to various art mediums.  The performers and attendants come from diverse backgrounds and cultures so the entire experience will not only be fun but educational.  I recommend spending some time downtown in the coming weekend to see the "explosion" of art that the Raleigh Arts Festival promises at the annual Artsplosure festival.
