Babies feared exposed to swine flu

More than 30 premature babies are feared to have been exposed to swine flu at a hospital in Greensboro.

According to this story, a respiratory therapist, who had treated a patient who later was diagnosed with the virus, also worked with the babies. She was sick over the weekend, but felt well enough to return to work Monday. From what I'm hearing from state health officials, many people are recovering very quickly from the illness.

The babies have been put on Tamiflu as a precaution. Officials are waiting for test results to come back to find out whether the employee actually had the virus.

The flu, also called the H1N1 virus, has been pretty mild in this area so far. But when I spoke to state health director Dr. Jeff Engel the other week, he said people are concerned about whether it could come back worse this fall or winter.

Right now, health officials are watching the southern hemisphere, he said, which is entering its winter season. If we hear of the virus hitting folks hard in Brazil, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, then we need to be ready for a worse version of it here next fall and winter.

This flu seems to be taken out of the mainstream media. This is not good as many of us do not know what the swine flu symptoms are. casino online
