Being 12 isn't what it used to be.

Being 12 isn't what it used to be.  According to the U.S. Government, the "drug of choice" of 12 and 13 year olds is prescription medication.  And 70% of people who abuse pills get them from the homes of unsuspecting family and friends.

When I learned that, I started working (as a member of the city's Substance Abuse Advisory Commission) with the police and DEA to raise awareness about prescription drug abuse.  We are sponsoring a Prescription Pill Drop-Off on Saturday May 30 from 10-4 at six area Food Lions:

4510 Capital Blvd.

1100 N. Raleigh Blvd.

1121 Falls River Ave.

2420 Wycliff Road

4827 Grove Barton Road

1601 Cross Link Road

Come learn about prescription drug abuse, how to tell if your child is misusing medication, how to keep pills safe in your home, and how to safely dispose of them once they're unneeded.  Let's show our kids that we care and we are serious about keeping them safe!
