We're shopping for a new couch. Can anyone give me recommendations on what kind of fabric will hold up best to the wear and tear and spills from a 2 year old and a 4 year old.
We got ours from Lazy Boy a couple of years ago - it has the stainmaster treatment on it or whatever you call it and it really works (and it's been mostly me spilling red wine on it). I'm not sure how to describe the fabric but it's pretty smooth, kind of velvety but the fibers are really short if that make sense.
it's not a lazy boy recliner style, but more contemporary. we actually found the couch and love seat at a lazy boy store in raleigh and then ordered it from a store in high point and saved several hundred dollars. It's the only way we get furniture.
We got ours from Green Front in Raleigh and I think it is the same kind of fabric...almost a chenille kind of soft thingy that seems to work well. I also recommend a tight pattern...good for dirt hiding.
We had a sectional in our bonus room that is some kind of a microfiber...kind of suede-like. It got every possible type of stain and mess on it and I would literally clean it with a scrub-sponge. And it always came out looking perfect!
We have also found our "nicer" leather furniture to be very resilient. And it seems to even get more comfortable with age. And durable? I just realized that we have had it 10 years.

Thanks and thanks for the tip about ordering from High Point.
