Birth Defect: Happy Ending
There's a really interesting story today in The N&O about a little girl who was born with a rare birth defect - several of her organs were outside her rib cage when she was born. Things appeared pretty dire in the beginning, but there's a really happy ending for little Erica Nance.
It's really amazing what doctors can do these days.

This was a beautiful story. I cried while reading it. I was amazed what medicine was able to do to give this beautiful girl a chance at a normal lie.
It certainly was a interesting story and as Erica's grandmother, Lisa's mother I was very impressed with how well written the story was. We have lived it for over 2 years worrying that everyday would bring a new crisis or challange. Erica is a very strong little girl. And is happy most of the time. I can not say enough about my daughter. Where her strength comes from I do not know. I am so proud of both Lisa and Erica and I can not forget to mention Erica's big sis Chloe. Chloe has been a big help to her mom. She is only 6 and needs her mom too but even at this tender age she understands that Erica needs her more sometimes. Chloe, Nana is so proud of you too.
Please continue to pray for my family. God and her Doctor's have brought Erica this far. She will soon be a normal little girl playing with her sister and many cousins.
