Check out these Books

Every weekend, TriangleMom2Mom offers ways to relax with your kids.

This weekend, the children's book staff at Quail Ridge Books & Music offers these book recommendations for kids.

BATS AT THE LIBRARY (hard cover, $16) by Brian Lies
Bats are more like us than you know. When it’s time for a quiet evening, where else do they fly but to the neighborhood library for storytime? Checking out the water fountain is way cool, too! Rhyming text and those adorable (yes, they are!) bats make this a great read-aloud for ages 4 and up. P.S. The earlier BATS AT THE BEACH is perfect for the season as well.

BAD KITTY (hard cover, $15.95) by Nick Bruel
You might argue whether Kitty is truly “bad”, but she is definitely a picky eater. When her owners run out of cat food and have to resort to (ugh) vegetables, Kitty makes her frustration known. But when an alphabet of Kitty-approved food comes into the kitchen, she hurries to make amends. Kids will howl through four silly alphabets as Kitty puts things right. For ages 4 and up. Bonus: Author & illustrator Nick Bruel will be at Quail Ridge for a special evening program on Tuesday, July 8, at 7:45 p.m.!

OFFICER BUCKLE AND GLORIA (hard cover, $16.99) by Peggy Rathmann
Not new, but one of our absolute favorites! Kids will love all the different Gloria pictures scattered over the covers. When a dull safety officer is teamed with a remarkable police dog, they both come up with the best safety tip of all. For ages 5 and up.

BEACH BABIES WEAR SHADES (board, $6.95) by Michelle Colman
The coolest babies know how to be comfy AND have fun at the beach. Your little one will love these babies, whatever they’re wearing. For ages birth to 3.
