Child gets new kidney
I just ached for the family in North Raleigh that lost two young boys when they darted across Falls of Neuse Road this month on their way to the library. Today's paper brings a little hope to the tragedy with the story of another Raleigh boy who has received one of their kidneys.
Here's the story: http://www.newsobserver.com/news/story/1034483.html
I just think how many times my daughter has pulled her hand out of mine when we've crossed the street or were walking through a parking lot. It's impossible to imagine the grief.

You're so right-- every time I read about a child who is hurt or killed, I want to hug mine a little tighter. As I sent my 12-year-old off to middle school today, I thought of those families in China who had sent their children off to school, only to have the schools collapse in the earthquake.
And, while we can't walk around thinking the worst is going to happen all of the time, it doesn't hurt to take a moment to give them an extra squeeze "goodbye" in the morning. And pray they'll be fine all day and you'll get to tell them to clean their room when they come home in the evening.
