Consignment Sale Season
It seems like just yesterday I was loading up my wagon at the Kids Exchange Consignment Sale. I can't believe the next sale is upon us - starting tomorrow in fact - and that many more are to come.
I'm a huge consignment shopper. It's hard for me to spend full price on much of anything for my daughter. I know the first time she wears it, she'll dribble blueberry juice or something all over it.
My two stops are the Kids Exchange and the Kidz Stuff Consignment Sale at Hayes Barton Baptist Church in Raleigh, which is near my house. But there are many great sales out there and now is the season.
Here's a rundown of the ones I know of so far. I'm listing the dates and times of the public sales, but if you sign up to consign or volunteer you can shop earlier.
I know this list will change and grow over time. Please add your favorites in the comments section if I haven't listed them. And offer your stories of amazing finds (mine is a $4 green velvet Laura Ashley dress in perfect condition for Christmas last year) and experiences consigning and volunteering.
Kids Exchange Consignment Sale is at the Jim Graham Building at the N.C. State Fairgrounds. It's too late to sell things, but the buying happens this weekend: 9 a.m .to 6 p.m., Friday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday.
Twice as Nice sale in Apex is from 7 a.m .to 1 p.m., Aug. 2. Items are half off from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Aug. 2. It appears from the Web site that there's still time to register to volunteer and sell.
Triangle Mothers of Twins and Triplets Fall Sale is next weekend at the Kerr Scott Building at the N.C. State Fairgrounds. The public sale is from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 a.m., Aug. 2. Cash only! Maternity clothes included.
Upscale Resale's fall sale for the public is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Aug. 15, and 9 a.m. to noon, Aug. 16, at the Cary Masonic Lodge. The sale specializes in really nice kids clothes. Registration to consign and volunteer is still open.
MOMS Club of Garner-East Consignment Sale is 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (1 p.m. to 3 p.m. is half price), Aug. 23 at The Capital Church near Timber Drive.
The Divine Consign Show is from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Aug. 28, and 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Aug. 29 (when some items may be reduced) at the Quail Hollow Swim and Tennis Clubhouse in North Raleigh. There is still time to register to consign and volunteer. Check out the Web site for information about how new moms and grandparents can shop early at this sale, which features fine clothes for kids.
Chatham Kids Consignment is from 8 a.m. to noon, Sept. 6, at the Historic Chatham Mill in Pittsboro. The half-price sale is from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sept. 6. Still time to sign up to consign and volunteer.
Kidz Stuff Consignment Sale at Hayes Barton Baptist Church in Raleigh is from 9 a.m .to 5 p.m., Sept. 12, and 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Sept. 13 (the half-price sale is from 11:45 a.m. and 2 p.m., on Sept. 13). Still time to consign.
KidsEveryWear in Morrisville is from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sept. 16 through Sept. 19. Some items are 50 percent off on Sept. 18 and up to 75 percent off Sept. 19. Still time to register to sell and volunteer. First-time moms can shop early.
First United Methodist Church's consignment sale in Cary is 8 a.m. to noon, Sept. 20. Organizers say this is the only sale in Cary that donates all its proceeds directly to local women's and children's missions.
Chapel Hill - Durham Mothers of Multiples Fall Yard Sale is from 7 a.m. to noon, Sept. 27. More information to come, according to the Web site.
Durham Children's Clothing Exchange is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sept. 27, with reduced-price days from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Sept. 28 (50 percent off); 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sept. 29 (60 percent off); and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sept. 30 (70 percent off). My friend is a frequent shopper here and always comes back telling me about all her fantastic deals. She says go early to get the best stuff. Also go prepared. There's no heat or AC and no working restrooms.
KidAround KidSale at The Factory in Wake Forest is from 4 p.m to 9 p.m., Oct. 3; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Oct. 4; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Oct. 5. Still time to sign up to sell and volunteer.
Just 4 Kids Consignment Sale in Fuquay-Varina is Oct. 8 through Oct. 10 at Life Spring Community Church on Wake Chapel Road. Still time to register to consign and volunteer.
The Friendship Closet at Apex United Methodist Church, 100 S. Hughes St., is 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Oct. 10. The half-price sale is 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., Oct. 11.
Kid's Co-op Consigments' fall and winter sale in Apex is 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Oct. 18, and continues 8 a.m. to noon, Oct. 25 when items are half off.
