Cravings

What did you/are you craving during your pregnancy(ies)?

The first time around I couldn't get enough of root beer barrels (those hard candies). And they actually are pretty hard to find. So whenever I did, I'd get a pound of them. For a few weeks early on, I could only eat pudding, boiled new potatoes and watermelon.

This time around has been a little easier, but I've really been enamored of orange and yellow foods or at least that's pretty much the only thing that connects them all - cantaloupe, grapefruit, yellow mustard (not the spicy kind or dijon), American cheese, mac and cheese, pineapple, oranges, anything lemony, scrambled eggs. And early on, I really wanted food you'd have at a summer picnic: Fresh tomatoes, corn on the cob (yellow again), that sweet macaroni salad you get at the grocery store, strawberry shortcake, baked beans. But no grilled meats until the last few weeks.

No crazy pickles and ice cream combo here. I'm sure you guys have much better ones than me.

McDonald's Chocolate Shakes. I can remember a couple of times, getting to the drive-thru speaker and being told the shake machine was down and almost collapsing into tears.

Egg Foo Yung. Never ate it before my pregnancy with my son. Never ate it since.

Popsicles. I was due in late summer and those were the only things that could cool me down for a couple of minutes. My husband would buy 3 or 4 boxes at a time because I would down them so quickly!

I only around 6 weeks pregnant but I already have craving for hard boiled eggs, pickles and milk but not mixed together. I enjoy dill pickles, I drink the juice right out of the jar. My husband thinks that is nasty.

Oh, I was absolutely addicted to Sprite with my first pregnancy! I could not get enough of it. I was also a Dorito's junkie! However, even the smell of cabbage made me sick. Come to think of it, anything healthy, was just not appealing whatsoever. Me and MCDonald's were BFF's for 9 months! Taco Bell was a very close second! haha! Hmmm wonder why I gained 50 pounds each time!
