Drugs while pregnant
Just saw this blog post on the Chicago Tribune's site about some proposed rules regarding a medication's effect on pregnant women.
Apparently the current system is "misleading and out of date" and, in many cases, there isn't enough information to know whether the drug actually poses a health risk.
I remember being pregnant and basically being scared to even take a Tylenol for a headache. Sounds like some good news or at least some better guidance.

Interesting article... I know I myself have had problems with knowing whether or not specific medicines are alright to take. I have severe allergies and was on two prescription medications before I got pregnant. Throughout my pregnancy, because I have about 10 different doctors, I've received conflicting advice just about every time I've been in. I think in total I've switched medications about 4 times, each time hoping that this one was the safe one. For a while, I stopped taking them completely, which promptly gave me a sinus infection, which of course required antibiotics to clear up. Seems like I can't win for loosing... :)
If only they they'd do the same for breastfeeding ...
I have heard from friends that you can't take a simple thing like Tylenol when you are pregnant. Is this really true? I don't understand what would happen if someone had a drug addiction while they were pregnant. What if they couldn't quit? What would happen to the baby?
