I'm not crafty, but you wouldn't know it from the pile of crafty stuff on my couch right now. There are popsicle sticks, clothes pins, felt, paper of all kinds of colors, wiggly eyes, glitter ... the list goes on.

My three-year-old has handcrafted a dozen Christmas cards and enough ornaments to cover a small tree. We do about one or two a day in the morning usually (when she's most likely to follow instructions). They'll all delight and surprise friends and family on Christmas morning.

None are incredibly creative. But this one I thought I'd share. I'm not sure where I got the idea originally. I think I saw it on somebody else's tree ages ago. It's a popsicle stick picture frame ornament. And if I can do it, you can too.

You need:

Three popsicle sticks per ornament

Things to decorate the popsicle sticks - markers, glitter, sparkles, wiggly eyes, whatever

Glue (I used wood glue)

Ribbon

Felt

A photo

What you do:

Have your kids decorate their popsicle sticks however they see fit. Remember it doesn't matter what they look like ... it's coming from their little hearts and that's good enough.

When they're done, glue the sticks together so they form a triangle (or Christmas tree). Tie a ribbon around one corner of the triangle so that it can hang from the tree. Cut the photo so that it fits inside the frame. And cut a piece of felt so that it can cover the photo. Stick the photo onto the felt with some tape and then glue the felt onto the popsicle stick triangle. I cut out a star to place at the top to hide the ribbon.

Let it dry. And there you go ... you're done.
