The Factory on Thursday

As usual, The Factory in Wake Forest will be the place to be for kids and families on Thursday.

But the night's events are worth noting for several reasons.

It's the first night of The Factory's "Families After Five" series, which runs on Thursdays through the end of June and offers free entertainment. Local children who have recently gone through the D.A.R.E. program also will be celebrating their achievements with lots of special activities for them, including some big inflatables and an Army helicopter.

And the MOMS Club of Wake Forest-North will be holding a fundraiser to help a local girl who is suffering from a rare malignant tumor.

Shannon Blalock, the group's vice president, said this is the third year the group has done a charity event and the first time for this little girl. Her parents are friends with some of the moms in the group.

They'll have a silent auction with 50 different baskets filled with such goodies as baby products, photography packages, restaurant gift certificates and more.

The event is from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. this Thursday (Families After Five starts at 5:30 p.m. and runs to 8:30 p.m.).  Call Shannon at 570-5015 with any questions about the silent auction or how to join the MOMS Club of Wake Forest-North, which is open to moms who live north of N.C. 98.
