Ooh, this is a good topic. I love reading to my daughter (or letting her "read" to me).
I love Tumble Me Tumbily by Karen Baicker. It's just a sweet little book of nonsense rhymes with adorable illustrations. DD made me recite it to her at bedtime for months.
Her current obsession is Knuffle Bunny by Mo Willems. I love it because it's clever and gently snarky (in a way that goes completely over a child's head). DD loves fake-crying where the story mentions it and yelling "KNUFFLE BUNNY!" at the end. I actually like a lot of Willem's books, but DD isn't quite old enough to understand some of them.
I like the book "Grow Up" by Nina Laden. It's nothing fancy, but the pictures are cool. You see a picture of a kitten on one page and it becomes a cat on the next, etc. We'd make noises for the animals. At the end is a mirror because the baby grows up to be "me." I used to read it to my daughter all the time.
