First-Ever Blog Post
Well, here I am making my first ever blog post at 1:10 in the morning. I am up because I am terribly nauseated and cannot seem to go back to sleep because my head is pounding. I tried turning the fan on and flicking on the tv to help me relax and ease me back to sleep, but nothing seems to be working. I also tried eating some chips - that was a mistake. And I drank some iced tea - also a mistake. I wish someone could tell me some "tricks of the trade" per se with being pregnant. I mean, I suffer from stomach problems anyway (chronic nausea and vomiting), but this really is becoming unbearable.

Ok, as a seasoned mom, I would recommend you call your doctor, or make an appointment. The doc can prescribe medicine to help combat headaches and nausea, especially bad cases, with an already existing stomack issue.Dry toast and hot tea(decaf) always did the trick for me on the nausea, soda crackers are good to keep on hand to eat when the "ughhh" feeling hits. Hope this helps!
The nausea is definitely horrible. I'd mention it to your doctor, but what made me feel slightly better was making sure my stomach never was empty. I loaded up on carbs - plain pasta, soda crackers. Ginger ale helped me too since I really wasn't interested in drinking water at all. Bananas, dry toast. I'd definitely stay away from anything greasy or high fat. I had insomnia too and the headaches. Check with your doctor, but most say you can take Tylenol for those.
I know it seems like it's never going to go away but I'm (almost) eight months pregnant with my second and it will. Hang in there. And congratulations!
I felt totally ill and nauseated for four months with each pregnancy -you have my sympathies. Ginger helped me. Homebrewed ginger tea worked the best: boil water, throw in sliced ginger root, and drink the "tea". Sounds yucky, but hey, it made my nausea totally vanish! Ginger snap cookies work for some people too. As the others said, a little bit in your stomach keeping it from getting empty may help, like bland crackers or dry toast. Good luck, and hope you are better soon.
One story: I remember at my four month pregnancy check up sitting in the doctor's waiting room feeling awful (as usual), wondering if this whole pregnancy thing was worth it or not. The pregnant woman next to me said, " I love feeling pregnant! Dont you?" It was all I could do to keep myself from killing her right there.
One word... Zofran
Get you an RX from your MD and feel better.... I had all day fatigue and nausea and this has helped me. Like you, if I was inconvenienced by being awakened at night, I was up and sick being asleep was the only respite. BY Golly, the spray from the shower on my forehead hurt! Zofran is given to cancer patients and children to help curb nausea. It is available in generic form.. if you do not have health insurance... watch out, it is very expensive.
Not into drugs, I found juicy fruit like watermelons and green grapes(both cold) to help hydrate, soothe and keep my tummy from being empty.
I am not 100% but at least I have been able to get off the couch and do a few things. I find that from 4 until dinner, to still be pretty rough. I pop grapes!
