Get Out of the House

I'm going to write more about this in my Family Outing column this week, but for those of you stuck inside the house because of the heat, I wanted to point out this series that starts Wednesday at the N.C. Museum of Art in Raleigh.

Most Wednesdays through July, the museum will offer kid-friendly performances at 1 p.m. along with a craft (from noon to 3 p.m.). Here are the details. Tickets are $3, free for family-level members (which I was surprised to learn only costs $75 a year and gets you deals on other programs). This week's performance features song and dance from Latin America.

I know the museum's Web site says it's recommended for kids ages 5 and up, but I took my preschooler to a similar series of performances at the museum in April and she loved it. Still talks about it actually. Worth checking out.
