Grape and sunflower seed salad

It's Grape Day at the State Farmers Market in Raleigh on Friday. And while my favorite use of the grape is wine, my No. 2 pick for the fruit is this salad.

There's a little nostalgia involved. It was the salad that was served at my wedding reception at the beautiful Linklaen House in Cazenovia, N.Y., eight years ago. This year, I recreated the salad on the big day for dinner.

So if you're tired of the usual tossed salad for dinner, give this a try.

Grape and sunflower seed salad

Put some spring lettuce mix in a bowl. Slice about a handful of seedless red grapes per salad. Toss in some sunflower seeds. Top with balsamic vinaigrette.
