Homosexuality..
How do you think you would react if your child came out to you as homosexual? I know in my heart that I would be accepting no matter what, but it’s so hard to say how you would react to something until you experience it firsthand. Thoughts?

I would care more about the character of the person that he or she loved than the gender of that individual. I can honestly say that it would not bother me at all.
My child is my child is my child. I would love him deeply as always, but there would be challenges (for both of us), I'm sure. The road he is on (not necessarily of his choosing) is a harder one, and he will face prejudices and difficulties along the way. I'd wish for an easier path, but wherever he goes, I'd be there.

I love my son no matter what. There would be a part of me that would be disappointed but only for the "grandchild" thing, but thank God our world has become a little more tolerant of differences and easier for some people to really live with who they are. I've worked around homosexual people for the past 20 years while doing clinical research so my tolerance and understanding is probably higher than most. I would do my best to support him and help him live the life he was meant to live.
I would feel very, very grateful that my daughter felt as though she could tell me, and I would only hope and pray her relationships were healthy and happy ones.
I'm not a parent..But this is exactly what I just read about in the book prayers for bobby. The mother in the book was just awful and rejected her son for being homosexual. Unfortunately, it took a huge tragedy for her to see the errors of her way and she ended up being a tremendously influential gay rights activist...

Thanks for the info :) I didn't think that the movie would do the book justice..but it definetely did. I think I cried more during the movie than I did when I read the book! Anyone else see it?
