Hot, Bothered and Pregnant

When I was pregnant with my daughter, my doctor said something I should have reminded myself of last fall.

"You timed it right for North Carolina," he said. "A due date in February."

This time around, I'm due in early September. I've got about two months to go, we're only two weeks into official summer and I'm already sporting a heat rash.

I'd love to get out for a walk, which helped with some of my back pain last time around. But by the time I get out the door in the morning, I'm already sweating. And let's just say my daughter's desire to run everywhere isn't conducive to slow, leisurely, back-pain-healing strolls.

The pool sounds nice. But then again, the nurse at the doctor's office tells me that wet suit I was hanging out in last week at the beach might be to blame for that rash.

Sleeveless shirts sound like a good plan. But then again after getting my driver's license renewed today (bad timing, right?), I can now see how pale and flabby those arms are these days.

So for now, I'm (trying) to get cozy on the couch with a mix of decaf iced tea and lemonade and hope the air conditioning doesn't blow out.

And I'm hoping for a big cold front to blow through here for the rest of the summer.

I have a February baby AND a September baby, and if it's any consolation, the September birthday parties are FAR more fun!

I can SO relate! I'll be having a scheduled c-section in late August...can't come soon enough! My first 2 children were born in December and April, and they were born in other states. Being heavily pregnant during a North Carolina summer is BRUTAL!  I take walks in the evenings...I really can't bear to do it in the middle of the day. I feel badly that I keep my sons indoors during the hottest hours, but I look for indoor activities to do during those times. My oldest doesn't like the heat either, so he's fine with staying in, but my youngest BEGS me to go out and I just keep saying "when daddy gets home".  I'm anxious for fall!

I've got a February baby too lilybug and that is very true ... September birthdays will be much more fun to plan (barring any hurricanes of course).

And I am looking forward to nice walks with the baby through the neighborhood this fall. That'll be nice.

Still, I'm ready for some rain or something. UGH!!

It could be worse. My sister had to wear support hose through three summer pregnancies. I'm not sure how she could stand it.

Hang in there though. Try to remember how it's always worth it once the baby is here.

I got my driver's license renewed when I was about 8 months pregnant. As much as I LOATHE the DMV, I've seriously considered going back just to get the picture changed.

Hang in there. The end isn't fun (no matter what the weather), but the result is the best! :)

The couch and air conditioning sounds lovely...and I'm not even pregnant. Just a stack of good books...how perfect! Oh...but you've got a big old full uterus comfortably laying on your spine, your bladder and other major stuff. Never mind...easy for me to say!

I had my license renewal at 8.5 months pregnant and my face and head took up the whole frame. Needless to say, it doesn't come out of the wallet unless absolutely necessary. Sadly, I don't get carded much anymore so it stays put most of the time. I am 11 weeks along and hit the pool today... it was hot as Hades but the water felt nice and the occassional splash from the kiddies was welcome.  Get out there in your suit and enjoy the water and the weightlessness is provides.

Same here on the photo. My old photo I just look sick and exhausted from morning sickness. This one I look all bloated. Good times.

And I'm going swimming today. But thank goodness for the cool down ... or at least breeze ... over the weekend.
