Indoor Pools in the Triangle

Homestead Aquatic Center in Chapel Hill opens to the public on Saturday. The center includes two indoor pools - a 25-meter by 25-yard lap pool for lap and competitive swimming and a 25-yard by 10-yard warm water pool great for kids and their parents to splash around in.

The $6.5 million center, which some in Chapel Hill have been waiting a decade for, will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., this Saturday and Sunday. Go here for the schedule after this weekend. Robb English, Chapel Hill's aquatics supervisor, says an official grand opening will be this spring.

The center is at 300 Northern Park Dr. Fees for Orange County residents are $3 for adults, $2 for kids ages 6 to 17, and $1 for kids age five and under. It's double for people who live outside Orange County.

I'm a big fan of indoor pools in the winter. It's a great way to exercise and for kids to get rid of some energy. Click here for a list of all the public indoor pools in the Triangle.
