Intentional bedwetting

I'm dying to know if anyone else has had this bizarre problem. We started potty-training my 2.5 year old daughter about 10 days ago. Seems to be going well. As long as we have underwear on her, she's going on the potty most of the time. But we still put a diaper on her at night. Anyway, she's really been protesting bedtime lately. And the past couple days, she's added a new form of protest. She takes off her pants and diaper and pees in her bed. Awful! Especially at 3 a.m. I am 99.9 percent sure this is intentional. I know you're not supposed to punish accidents, but I don't think these are accidents. But even if I did want to punish her, what would the punishment be? Has anyone else experienced this? How did you handle it?

Protesting bedtime? She's trying to tell you to leave the diaper off.
Unfortunately, little children don't always wake up enough to know what they're doing at 3 a.m. ... She knows she has to urinate but probably is too groggy to get to the toilet. She's just awake enough to know that she needs to remove the diaper and pants.
When we had a similar situation, we set the alarm clock for about 20 mins. before the middle-of-the-night incidents and walked our son to the bathroom. After a couple of weeks, he learned to do this on his own. Problem solved.
Good luck!
