Hi, I'm Melinda. I am a stay at home mom of 2 beautiful girls, 2 years and the other 4 months. Was never going to have children, and now, poof-here I am. 36 years old, staying at home, gave up my career as a teacher, struggle with that decision almost daily, BUT...could never be happier. I know I made the right decision, but will not lie, being a SAHM is the hardest job I have ever had. Anyway, always looking to connect with people, share stories, get advice and help guide others. Saw this web site info in the N&O and thought I would check it out.
Hi Ladies! My name is Julie. I am also a sahm to one little girl who is 18 months old. My husband and I moved to Raleigh in August and we love it here. About two months ago I started writing a blog called evolvingmom.com. I write mostly about my weight loss journey and things related to that and motherhood. I really love blogging and I am so excited to see this new community forming!
And Melinda, you are so right. Being a sahm is way tougher than I ever imagined, especially when you want to be a good one. I find it refreshing that you are so honest about it. Hang in there!
My name is Natalie and I have a 4-year-old son and a nearly 2-year-old daughter. I blog here http://dayatthepark.blogspot.com/ and on this site. My blog runs on Sunday.
Julie: I just looked over your blog and I love it. I'll add it to my daily read. I think it's wonderful that you are writing about your weight loss journey. I don't have the guts to detail that kind of information on my blog so I stick to the silly things my kids do. Anyway, good for you.
Melinda: Good to meet you. I, too, struggle with my decision to stay home, even though I really do love my new life at home. Sometimes I just need to remind myself how lucky I am to have this chance.
I look forward to hearing more for you two on this site.
Hi...just wanted to introduce myself. I'm a 35 year old SAHM to two boys, 4.5 and 2. We moved to Raleigh about a year and a half ago. I'm looking forward to hearing what local moms have to say!
I am a 36 yr. old mom of 2 stepchildren and 2 children of my own ranging in age from 2-18. Only 3 still live at home (15 yr old son, 14 yr old daughter and 2.5 yr old son) with my oldest stepdaughter recently starting her life as a new wife and brand new mom to my grandson who is 4 weeks old! All of this and a full time job as well! I totally agree with you that being a SAHM is the hardest job ever. Staying at home would make me crazy so kudos to all of you who do that and more each day! I love this site and have shared it will all of the moms that I run across at the high school, middle school and preschool.
Hi-I'm Beth. 38. I work FT and have two little ones-4y and 7mo. We live in Raleigh and have been here for about 5 1/2 years. I'm interested to see this site really "take off"...it seems well done...now, we just need to bring on the moms!
Hello Everyone! My name is Heather and I am a 35-year-old mother of two. My son is 6 and my daughter is 3 (will be 4, going on 18 in June!). I just discovered this site and am very excited. It will be nice to discuss everyday issues with other moms. I stayed home for a couple of months after each of my children were born and learned quick that staying at home wasn't for me. I do struggle with my decision because I feel so rushed to get everything done and still spend quality time with my kids.
Hey everybody--I'm Kristin and like the previous poster, I am also a 35-year-old (how did that happen?) mom of two. I have two girls, ages 3.5 and 6 months. I also stayed home for a few months after each of my girls was born. I enjoyed my time at home, but the best fit for me is working part time. Unfortunately, in order to keep my benefits at work, to afford childcare, and to stay on top of things at work, I am working more hours than I'd really like to. Still, I am fortunate to have a really flexible employer who allows me to work from home when I need to. I find that I have to make a conscious effort to scale back some of my expectations around the house in order to have enough quality time with my girls. I'm looking forward to reading more about all of your experiences!
Hi Everyone. My name is Cindy. I'm a 47-year-old first-time Mom of two year adopted twins from China (went to China 18 mos ago).....was married more than 20 years before we went to China. It's definitely a wonderful exciting...and exhausting....adventure being a Mom to toddler twins! :) I also have been very career-oriented (easy to do all those years without children!!) and I continue to work full-time as I truly love my work. I hope to meet and hear about other Moms who juggle the full-time work and children balance....esp. those Moms who are juggling toddlers and full-time. I'm hoping this site can help me take advantage of all the wonderful resources the Triangle has to offer for families. We've lived here almost 20 years but honestly did not pay any attention to the things happening around here for children!! -Cindy
HI, looking forward to sharing with other moms. I've been a mom for 17 years, and have been in Cary for 11 years, so I hope to both give and get advice!
Hello. My name is Erin and am 33 year old new mom to a 10 week old. I will be returning to work full time on June 2 and am looking forward to sharing and LEARNING from other moms. I am excited about this site and look forward to sharing my experiences with others as well.
Hello. My name is Frankie and I am probably the oldest mom that has been on this blog. I have 2 boys, ages 28 and 21 that I raised as a single parent and I had a job as a full time social worker( which required lots of over time). I am now a stay at home mom to 2 girls age 6 and 8. I am so glad I have had this opportunity but it sure has been hard sometimes. Just as hard I might add as being a working mom but for very different reasons. This site seems to be cool and I hope it includes ideas for mom's with kid's of all ages. It is nice to find somewhere to just share with others.
Best of luck as a SAHM! I've been a SAHM throughout both my kids lives! Besides the occasional part-time work which happened here and therefor diversion but never passion, my major job was always as a mom. Wish I had six more kids to raise--seriously. My two are teenagers.
Hello. My name is Heidi and I'm a mother of a 18 month old little girl. I work only a few days a week. I love what I do for a living and it's a good balance for me. I can't imagine working full time and doing all that some of you do, bless you. Perhaps as my daughter gets older and starts school then I can work f/t. I'd love to talk to Julie that has the 18 month old that moved to Raleigh. We are considering moving there. We are too close to Tampa and it is one of the worst crime areas especially with children. I look forward to visiting this site. It's just what I need, someone that can relate! :-) Thank you!
Hi
I'm Angel, a divorced single parent (I think I've always been a single parent now that I think about it) of 2 girls...one in middle school and one is a rising freshman. I just enjoy some adult conversation and socializing every now and then. The site appealed to me so I decided to give it a try. Hopefully, I won't feel like I'm the only one juggling all of life activities and get some good advice if needed.
Hello ... as I have been reading I see I'm not the only one who waited a "little later" to have children. My name is Terry and I am a 37 year old full-time working mom to 2 boys ages 6 and 7mths. I have been married for nine years. I love sharing "mommy" issues as well as bragging about my little guys ... (the baby has his 1st tooth!!!) I live about 45 miles south of Raleigh.
Hello Ladies. My name is Julie and I am a 38 year old divorced mom of 5 and working full time both inside and outside the home! My children are 13 (rising freshman in high school), 10 (only girl), 4 (rising kindergartener), 3 1/3 and 14 months old. I was a SAHM for 13 years and have recently returned to working outside the home full time. I have sole custody of the children and their father is allowed supervised visitation, which we are not currently participating in. So it is just me trying to juggle it all. I have been in Raleigh for 17 years and am looking forward to being able to communicate with other mothers...
Hi There! I'm Heather...I'm 27 and have a 20 month old son named Damien. My husband is Tony. We live in Clayon and we like it, but miss the city sometimes. Anyway, we both work full time and we love spending time with our little man when we aren't working. We also love movies (when we get a chance to catch one) and music...making it, listening to it, etc. I'm so excited to meet some local moms...I haven't been able to meet very many people with my work schedule! Okay, so that's pretty much it...
Okay Julie, you have the juggling award for the most impressive work load. FIVE kids, full time job, single mom, AND a 14 month old!!!!! Uh... Okay all you moms that think you have it rough with a devoted spouse and one kid, think again. Hope you've got a super support system built up from 17 years in Raleigh. I'm sure you've got a lot to teach other moms here--that is, if you ever find time to blog here. Welcome.
Thanks, A1Mama. I do have my Mother in town, who is a HUGE support. I couldn't do it without her. But despite living here for 17 years, I have not had a support group of friends. I guess I am still working on that... :o)
Luckily, I do have a great job (with plenty of paid time off when needed) and great kids. And I am hoping to find the time to check in and chat. I'd love to do my own blog, but have no idea how to even start. Any ideas?
Hi Julie - My mom is in town and it's so nice to have that to fall back on and just so my daughter can have a relationship with her.
On the blog - write about whatever you like. Doesn't have to be fancy - a funny story from the day, a gripe, whatever is on your mind. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Guess if I'm going to keep posting I should introduce myself ;-)
I'm Stacie! My boys are 3 and 6 months. I work full time outside of the home. Moved to Raleigh from GA in 2000 and imported my husband from Texas in 2001 ;-D Now that he's loosened his grip on his cowboy boots and hat, he agrees with me that this is an incredible place to live and raise our family.
Hi, my name is Jenny- I love living here in the Triangle area. This is where I met my husband, and after living everywhere from San Diego, CA to Saratoga Springs, NY, we thought that Cary was the best place we'd been to raise a family. I'm 32 and have a 6 1/2 year old son and a 4 3/4 year old daughter. They will both be in school full time starting on July 7th, so I have a world of change coming my way. In my free time I've been developing a business plan that will hopefully keep me busy while they're in school- wish me luck!
Hi I'm Lauren. I'm 21 years old & mommy to Isis, who will be 3 years old in August. Our nationality is Cape Verdean, looking for others in the area if there are any. We moved to Durham from Massachusetts so we're still adjusting & looking to connect with others in the area. I'm a student at NCCU right now.
Wow. Cape Verde! Interesting. Even more interesting if others in the triangle come from there. I've never known anyone from that part of the world. You sent me scrambling to look it up.
Hi everyone! I'm a 34-year old SAHM to an almost 2-year old girl from China. We adopted her 1 year ago. Looking forward to meeting more folks through this forum!

Hi Melinda! Thanks so much for checking us out. I spent yesterday at home with my daughter and I agree that's a hard job (and you've got two!)
