Do your kids have cell phones? If so, how old are they? Do they text? Do the bring them to school? What are the pros and cons of giving kids cell phones?

My teenage boys have cell phones. They got them because I drop them off at sports practices and they ride the school bus home, so sometimes they need to reach me. Ever try to track down your kid when the school bus has broken down?

They don't really call or get calls from girls. Most of their usage is text messages to neighborhood buddies-- "Hey, wanna come outside and play?"

My third son wants a cell phone, but he loses everything, so I'm thinking about waiting on that one.

My two oldest daughters (15 & 13) have cell phones. They are pretty good about not abusing them. I wanted them to have a cell phone for my peace of mind. After the ice storm a few years ago, it freaked me out not knowing where my daughter's bus had dropped her off. Luckily her friend had a cell phone and she was able to call me and let me know where she was. Although, now my eight year old thinks she should have one, not!
