Legos, Legos, and More Boy Mom Musings

Legos, legos and more boy mom musings. Last weekend, one of the Tigers was under the weather. In fact, at 6:20am, so was I! :) So we spent the morning together. What was the one thing he wanted to do. "Play Legos!" It's all good except he had a specific "Lego" in mind - "the glow-in-the-dark car! lego!" I'm all about Legos and anything creative but there they had to go put me in the box. Specific directions, pictures, you know the kind where things have to be 'exact,' 'the same' - no questions!

Example: We got part of step 4 upside down (who knew!) and everything fit together fine until step 13, so guess how far we broke it back down to get it all right because in this family we do not quit!

I was steeped in the traditions of Southern Girls. What can I say! It was a grand time. I think I was a remnant of the day where the lines between girls and boys was not so blurred. And that was fine by me. Favorite things included, the Sound of Music, all things Pink, my Doll House, and Easy Bake Oven. Piano. Lots of cooking with my Southern mother. Making sweet tea on Sunday afternoons, and right there, Sunday dinner traditions were a memory all their own.

Before you worry yourselves with wondering if I have enjoyed the good life, just know that amongst all of the girlyness my three sisters and I enjoyed, there were plenty of lessons from my brother. I did enjoy running with him, weather on the track or in the country. We all took part in raising his several Prize Pigs. Anyone say Harvey?! Even going to the Fair Grounds for his competitions. Our family went boating, camping, we were well-rounded out. Then there were the lessons: tennis, swimming, piano, etc. You get the idea.

It is just that in all my well-rounded childhood, never have I had to feel so 'fenced in' as when Mr. Lego decides we have side-stepped his wisdom!

Finally, the clouds parted, the sun did shine and we completed said Lego car. Tiger is asleep, so this will have to suffice for the title, but you know there is some name that has to be used for said Lego car. Well, said Lego car was finished and we were proud of our work! And it actually did glow-in-the-dark and zip speedily around at Tiger's command! Feeling the love, I said to Tiger, "See honey we did get it finished right. You know why?!" Here I was really thinking of one of those nice sugary Mommy-thoughts like 'because I love you to the moon and back!" To which he replied, Because in this family, we do not quit!

Wow Lego! Maybe we've both learned a valuable lesson here! (Even if it didn't involve pink or barbie dolls!) Ode to the Boy Moms!
