My favorite movie was Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory--I thought it was facinating
I was always facinated by the Wizard of Oz. I loved when the movie would change from B & W to color!
All the STAR WARS, movies. I have 2 boys, and they have the new STAR WARS toys to play with. But best of all, they have my husband's and brother's STAR WARS toys from the 70's and 80's!!
One of my many favorites has to be The Black Stallion. My sister and I were horse lovers from the beginning, and still are! I also loved The Incredible Journey.....see what an animal lover I am.....
Oh Gosh, this is going to sound so weird, but the movie that hit me the most was when I went with a girlfriend from middle school and we saw, "On Golden Pond", with Henry Fonda....I know it doesn't sound like any kind of movie a kid would like, but it reminded me of my Grandma and Grandpa and how much I valued my relationship with them....I still love to watch that movie today and still cry every time I watch it!
My favorite childhood movies were Annie and Grease. I remember they were the two movies I saw first on a Beta tape at home on a rented VCR!
My favorite movie was Grease. I loved the singing and dancing and teenage romance. I think that's why I like High School Musical so much!
I always loved "All Dogs Go To Heaven". It still makes me tear up!
"Charlie, you can never go back!"
~Amy~
My favorite movies are the Benji series.
Was so exited to see STAR WARS--thought I'd love it....but didn't. My favorite that I went to see over and over again.....GREASE! Loved it!!!
my favorite was star wars. looks kinda hokey these days, but great back in the day...
The Wizard of Oz was always my favorite. Even in college, we'd claim dibs on the large, color TV in our dorm's lounge and cancel all our dates so that we could watch it!
I had three favorite childhood movies, two of which my son now adores! My three favorite childhood movies of all time are:
1 - Rikki Tikki Tavi
2 - The Secret of NIHM
3 - The 1987 Hallmark Hall of Fame version of The Secret Garden starring Gennie James.
My favorite childhood movie was "Song of the South".....Brer Rabbit, Brer Bear.....these days it's not considered PC by Disney even though Splash Mountain is one of Disney World's biggest rides...hidden treasure.
My favorite movie was the wizard of oz, it's still one of my favorites!
My favorite movie from my childhood and now still is one of my favorite movies is "Christmas Story." I still like to see the boy who gets his tongue stuck to the pole!
my favorite childhood movie was Annie
I LOVED the Neverending Story!!
My favorite fantasy movie from childhood was The Wizard of Oz. I loved the vibrant color (unbelievable for a movie made in the '30's), the songs and Judy Garland was phenomenal. Later on, I loved the movie version of the broadway modern version, The Wiz. Michael Jackson and Diana Ross were really great together.
My favority movie was The Little Mermaid. I am a beach brat born and bred and it just fit me!
I could lump all of the movies ever created by Disney in the early 80's, but I have to say An American Tail (the original in 86) was my favorite. I think something really stuck with me - this little Russian mouse gets separated from family and searches to find them while making his own way learning to survive. My dad was a Marine and was stationed over seas for most of my childhood. When this movie came out it really did make all the difference for me.
OR, it could have been that song "Somewhere Out There". :) Got to love Linda.
Were you ever scared when watching it as a child? I still get a little freaked out by the monkeys :)
My favorite was Annie. I had the whole thing memorized from beginning to end. I loved it!
My favorite movie from childhood was all of the Rocky movies. I realize that maybe strange but hey, I am a unconventional person.
Winnie the Pooh was my favorite movie
I watched Grease over and over for years.
Lean on Me
Loved that Movie - Had a lot of meaning for me! It was my mom's favorite too!
The Sound of Music was my favorite. It was one of the first movies I wanted my daughter to see.
Swiss Family Robinson was my favorite as a child. My favorite character was Fritz! Now my son 4 1/2 yrs old loves the movie, his favorite is the Pirates! We love to watch it together!
My favorite movie was Oliver, the old musical!
Fantasia! I loved the animated characters and all that MUSIC!
The Apple Dumpling Gang - reminded me of my own family!
My favorite movie was Wizard of Oz. I used to sing along to Somewhere over the Rainbow. All 3 of my sons heard this as a lullaby. It came on tv once a year and we got to stay up late and watch with my parents and have popcorn and hot cocoa. Great memories!
My favorite movie was Disney's "Sleeping Beauty."
I think I liked Christmas Story the most because that's one of the first movies I ever saw in a theater and had my first taste of real, high quality, dripping with butter popcorn. An aunt took us and I can still rember her fur coat and all her nieces petting her throughout the whole movie (she never had kids ...).
My favorite movie to this day is "The Wizard of Oz"...I still dream of being Dorothy; and if you listen closely, you will often hear "Over the Rainbow" coming from the shower!
I remember going to see Fantasia in the theater...I was totally enthralled by the drama and the thought that hippo's could do ballet!
My favorite childhood movie was Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
I remember being able to stay up late to watch Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory! I could probably still sing the "Cheer Up Charlie" and "Oompah Loompah" songs...
Could you imagine as a child, licking a wall and it tasting yummy?!?!?
My all-time favorite childhood movie is Star Wars! I couldn't get enough! I was five when it came out in 1977 and really got hooked!
When I was really young I loved "Charlotte's Web" - The original but as I got a little older Grease was my favorite. My husband still hates to watch Grease with me because I know all the words to the songs and sing through the whole thing. He just groans when it is coming on. :-)
The little mermaid! I absolutely loved watching that movie over and over again, knew all of the words, and loved the ending.
Definitely the Sound of Music. Probably saw it 25 times (and so did my poor Mom)
The Sound of Music.
Perhaps an obscure movie but I loved "Candleshoe" with Jodie Foster. For the life of me, I can't even remember entirely what it was about other than it being British but I fell in love with Jodie Foster, who I promptly wrote to after seeing the movie.
For another odd reason, I watched a lot of scary movies as a child and Trilogy of Terror was one that I was very scared of but enjoyed too...anything with Karen Black...now I'm giving away my age!
Absolutely Grease...still get some of those songs stuck in my head!
One of my favorite movies was Pete's Dragon.
My favorite movie as a child was The Wizard of Oz. Every year I couldn't wait to see it on television. My movie theater experience was very limited as a child with the first being at a drive in and I think my first theater movie was Earthquake when I was probably 11 or 12. The Wizard of Oz was and still is such a magical movie for me.
My absolute favorite movie from my childhood was Mary Poppins! Any movie with Julie Andrews was an instant classic in my home, but Mary Poppins had the fantasy appeal that made me believe anything was possible.
I loved Annie I secretly wanted to be an orphen (is that weird?)
my fav movie... Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory -a candyland fantasy!
Oh and Escape to Witch Mountain. I tend to like the fantastical. :o)
The Sound of Music has always been a favorite of mine.
Wizard of Oz was always a family favorite. It used to show only once a year but now you can own it on DVD and watch it whenever so it kind of lost it's magic.
I really loved the Lion King, it was a very great movie from my late childhood that still sticks in my head. I enjoyed it so much that I introduced my four year old to it and it is on of her favorites also, original VHS and all!
The Lion King! I owned all the sheets and non-toy memorabilia! There was just something about Simba that I fell in love with.
On another note, my mom is scared to death of the Flying Monkeys in the Wizard of Oz and refuses to watch that movie. Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory also startles her, for some reason.
My favorite movie was ET. It was cool and my brothers and I checked around to make sure there were no extra-terrestrials hiding out in our shed.
My favorite movie from my child hood was seeing Peter Pan with my parents at a drive-in movie in California.
My favorite movie would have to be 'Splash' as I always dreamed of being a mermaid.
My all time favorite childhood movie was and still is "THE SOUND OF MUSIC". I have it on VHS (that's how long I've had it) and plus I watch it each year that it comes on television.
Oh, I couldn't pick just one. Of course there's the usuals - Wizard of Oz, Sound of Music and Grease that I've watched more times than I care to admit to. But I'll always remember my first drive in movie - Swiss Family Robinson and I remember watching To Kill a Mocking Bird and what an impression it made on me as a young child.
Favorite all-time classic is The Wizard of Oz. Another movie I wore out was The NeverEnding Story.
Song of the South - loved the music!
My favorite childhood movie was Blue Hawaii. My Grandmother was a huge Elvis fan and I used to watch this movie every time I was there! "I can't help....falling in love with you...." :)
Without competition, it was The Sound of Music. Decades later, it's still my favorite movie of all time.
My favorite movie would be Peter Pan, it was wonderful thinking I could fly and living in an imaginary world.
Mary Poppins. By far the best.
the Sound of Music
My favorite movie as a kid was Pete's Dragon. I loved Elliott. He was so funny and no body could see him but Pete. I used to watch that day in and day out. I own that movie on VHS and I've sat and watched it with my boys.
Tracy
My Friend Flicka ( with Roddy McDowell)
Well, I have quite a few that I liked a lot, but my most favorite was and still is The Wizard of Oz...I would get so upset if I missed it on T.V. "There's no place like home!"
My favorite childhood movie was Wizard of Oz. It would come on every Easter and we would watch it as a family.
Herbie the Love Bug, The Shaggy DA, Escape to Witch Mountain and Swiss Family Robinson. I remember seeing all of these at the drive-in theater. Too bad drive-ins don't exist anymore--they sure add to the experience and the memories!
I loved Wizard of Oz. I sing songs from that movie to my daughter to this day.
My favorite was Mary Poppins!
I always loved The Wizard of Oz. It only came on TV once a year, and my whole family looked forward to watching it together.
I liked Escape to Witch Mountain - it was my first PG rated movie and I thought I was so grown up!
My favorite movie growing up was the Neverending Story movies.
Like others my favorites changed every year as I got older but some of the earlier ones were Disney movies such as Tron or The Black Hole, Herbie the Love Bug movies, Benji movies, Jim Henson movies such as The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, or The Never Ending Story, early Star Wars and any Rocky movie.
I know I'm going to date myself here! I remember seeing the Wizard of OZ in 1954. My grandfather took me to an enormous theater (in NYC) with several balconies on multiple floors that wrapped around the theater (like an opera house). The seats were red velvet. The tornado scared me, the wicked witch and her monkeys terrified me! I adored Glinda and Dorothy and her companions. I marveled at the poppies and the Emerald City! It was the most exciting experience of my 3 year old life!!! I have shown videos of the movie to friends in foreign countries where they had heard of it but never seen it. Nieces, nephews other friends' children have all been mesmerized in my living room! I love to watch people discover this film. I watched the Wizard last week!!!
My favorite was Black Beauty.
Favorite from childhood would probably be E.T. I was so excited to have my 5 year old watch it and he was a little scared, so maybe when he is 6.
Cinderella, was really as I visuallized the story.
I loved "The Sound Of Music" I still do tothis date.
Actually, it was 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' - and I could watch it a million times even today (except for the scene with the man tricking the children and throwing them in his wagon - I still can't watch that part!!)
I love 'Pete's Dragon' and 'Mary Poppins'...all of those movies - and we love that our 5-year-old daughter loves them, too! :-)
To this day - "The Wizard of Oz" is my favorite movie. I have watched it every year as far back as I can remember. I even had a dog that looked like Toto when I was growing up. I can't chat here long....as I'm off to see the wizard..............
I loved and still love Emmitt Otter's JugBand Christmas. It's perfect for any time of the year!
Well my favorite is more from adolescence & it is the Goonies. I have always loved adventure & as a child it gave me hope that I too could find buried treasure :)
My favorite childhood movie was "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang." I loved the characters and the suspenseful story...my favorite part was "Toot Sweet," especially the dancing.
My fav was Mary Poppins too!
My favorite childhood movie was Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer and the Wizard of Oz. I recall being so excited all day when I knew those movies were coming on.
My favorite childhood movie was Mary Poppins. I even dressed up as Mary Poppins one year for Halloween!
When I was a child, my family couldn't afford to go to the movies a lot; so every movie I saw as a child was very special to me. My favorite childhood favorite movies were Charlton Heston movies, like The Ten Commandments, Ben-Hur, and Planet of the Apes
I loved Cinderella. Such a "girlie" movie huh? Now I have a son and he is not into girl movies at all!!
My favorite is 'The Sound of Music'... Classic of all classics (of that type).
gosh....there are so many favorites that it's hard to choose just one. I remember singing to greats like Grease and Annie, and wondering why I wasn't lucky enough to have super powers like Tony and Tia in Escape from Witch Mountain, but E.T. is probably one of my all time favorites.
I loved National Velvet because I wanted a horse!
I would have to agree with many others and say that my favorite movies from childhood were Annie and Willie Wonka. I loved them both.
I would have to say Wizard of Oz. I still love that movie!
My favorite childhood movie then and now is the OZ!! I love that movie and watch it now with my granddaughter who is 3 years old. My favorite character is the Lion.
Veronica
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory!
My favorite was The Moonspinners with Haylie Mills. Back then it was a real thriller!
I didn't grow up in USA when I was a kid. But, in my country, my favorite movie was about Aladdin. I read so many books about him and then watching a movie was a great experience.
Favorite movie was Star Wars......
I honestly don't remember seeing a lot of movies as a child...but I remember what I liked in my teens...Sixteen Candles, Breakfast Club and Mr. Mom. As a child though, I always liked the Peanut specials (Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, etc).
A long-forgotten Disney live action effort called "The North Avenue Irregulars."
My favorite too was the Wizard of Oz, I couldn't wait until around January which was about the time it came on (it was in total black and white) and with time half color and it is still delightful today.
I loved the Black Stallion movies.
My favorite movie was Annie.
It's a tie between Sound of Music and Mary Popins - Even though I can't carry a tune to save my life!
The Sound of Music.
I liked the old Benji movies that came on TV. I also absolutely loved the PBS Chronicles of Narnia, even if the special effects weren't the best.
My favorite movie is really an experience. When I was 8, we lived in Norfolk, Va., and because there were so many kids in my family -- 4 was considered a lot -- we went to the drive-in instead of the theater.
The drive-in always showed a kid's movie, and then an adult feature, when the children were expected to fall sleep! But this night the adult movie was "West Side Story," and I was so taken by it -- the music, the dancing, the streets of New York-scape -- that it is one of my all-time favorites!
My favorite movie as a child was Black Stallion. I grew up fascinated by anything involving horses and loved the movie.
Willy Wonka, The Wizard of OZ, and most disney cartoons. I loved them all!!!
The Secret of NIHM
My favorite movie as a child was Pete's Dragon. I used to love playing make believe and always had a heart for those less fortunate. This story of an unwanted and abused boy who runs away from his mean adopted family and finds a new loving family to adopt him all the while maintaining a fun friendship with his dragon friend, Elliott, was sure to keep any child entertained. My children enjoy watching it too now.
Bedknobs and Broomsticks
My favorite movie was 101 Dalmations. I remember hiding behind the seat and crying when the dad was trying to collect the puppies and get them on the truck speeding away. It had such a happy ending in true Disney style.
Mary Pop-Pins!
I always thougt how cool it would be to have a nanny like that! She made chores into an adventure so you didn't mind doing them. And how about that magical umbrella that made travel a breeze!
I wanted to be Ariel from The Little Mermaid. I couldn't figure out how her hair never seemed tangly even though she was swimming all the time.
The Sound of Music. What's funny is that movie drives me crazy now.
I didn't really start watching movies until VCRs came out - I was about 13 when we got one. But I can remember enjoying the yearly showings of Sound of Music and Wizard of Oz. Once we got a VCR I watched just about every movie I could. Annie made me cry - wondered where my birthparents were. Mary Poppins made me wish I had a magical nanny. Bambi made me want to outlaw hunting. Movies always pushed me to think beyond myself. I don't think that's so much the case nowadays. Will Madagascar 2 make my kids feel anything but entertained? Maybe with free tickets we'll find out!
My favorite movie from my childhood was Mary Poppins. I used to watch it all the time as a kid and I now watch it with my kids! They love it now too.
My favorite childhood movie was The Little Mermaid. I wanted to be Ariel, I could swim all day, have no major responsibilities, and be free.
Wizard of OZ was always my favorite.
A Christmas Story
Poor little Ralphie has to convince his parents, teachers, and Santa that a Red Ryder BB gun really is the perfect gift for Christmas.
My Favorite childhood movie was ET
I loved Rikki Tikki Tavi and also The Lorax (they would show that and the star bellied Sneeches if memory serves me). I loved to watch it.
My favorite movie as a child would have to be ET.
Wizard of OZ was always my favorite.
The Wizard of Oz has been my all time favorite. Even now, and being almost 37, it's still my favorite of all time. I feel just like a child again everytime I watch it! The Lion & Scarecrow were my favorites. And the scariest was always the witch riding the bicycle dognapping ToTo and when Dorothy saw her riding by in the tornado. Oh... and the flying monkeys!
I loved Mary Poppins and would get so excited when it came on the Wild World Of Disney on Sunday nights (non DVD's to pop in back then). I am still loving it as my children are now watching it. I am happy to report all the words to the songs came right back to me...it's like riding a bike.
No question, my favorite was the Wizard of Oz! some much visual to absorb, the music is wonderful, and in the end "there is no place like home!"
Jungle Book
always love bollu and King Louie!
Later in life I realized that King Louie was none other than my father's favorite musician from the "old days" - Louie Prima!
Now I am watching it with my Kids . . . .second run . . . . and my teen age son still laughs when I sing "bare necesities" and do the bear dance with the little ones!
My favorite is the Wizard of Oz. It's a classic!
My favorite movie from childhood would have to be the Wizard of Oz. Back in day, way back in the day (cause I'm kinda old), it only came on television once a year and I couldn't wait to see it. I loved watching it, but would often have nightmares about the wicked witch of the west and her flying blue monkeys. No matter how scared I got from watching it, I couldn't resist. I was mesmerized by the fantasy of it all. I just watched it the other week when it was on. It's a timeless classic and children will be enjoying it in 2039 when it will be 100 years old. My close second favorite childhood movie would have to be Charlotte's Web. You just gotta love a pig named Wilbur. My heart melted everytime I saw it. Ah, precious memories for sure.
I absolutely loved the original Charlie & the Chocolate Factory movie. The new one doesn't even compare!
Burr Rabbit
Well I was a finicky child... I went from Bambi to ET to Annie to Grease. Grease and Annie are still two of my favorites.
Burr Rabbit
My favorite childhood movie is "The Wizard of Oz". I remember watching it with my sisters and crying because the flying Monkeys and that witch scared me. I cheered loudly when the bucket of water was poured on her and she disappeared. Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion were wonderful. They had determination and drive that they were gonna get to see the Oz and get what each of them desired.
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe was my favorite. What an amazing fantasy!
"A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" was the one movie I could watch over and over again when I was young. It's always been billed as a Christmas movie. I suppose I can see that. But, the story itself (that of a well-meaning alcoholic father who eventually loses his battle and the strong-willed mother) really resonated with me. It's a movie I wish was shown more often.
Charlotte's Web
The movie that jumps into my heasd quite often is Freaky Friday....the original one ;-) I also loved Parent Trap.....again the origianl!!
My favorite movie was Mary Poppins, in black and white. I'm from a small town, and I remember going to my elementary school for the showing on a Friday night and thinking it was a really big deal. The singing and dancing was great, and the old fashioned special effects. Dick Van Dyke was my favorite, as the chimney sweeper.
My favorite movie from my childhood was "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" and "The Sound of Music". We wanted anxiously every year for these movies to come on the TV!
My favorite childhood movie was Aladdin. The Genie always made me laugh and I always wanted a pet monkey!
I remember my Dad and Mom taking all 7 of us kids to the drive-in. We would see the Creator from the Black Lagoon, Swamp Thing. Then when I grew up the Friday the 13th Series, Chuckee, Halloween and Poltergeist all scared me. Especially the clown in Poltergeist, I didn't care too much for him.
