Meet Donna!

Donna Badin is our TriangleMom2Mom mom of the week. She's busy right now working to help organize the KIDZ Stuff Consignment Sale at Hayes Barton Baptist Church in Raleigh. The sale opens to the public Oct. 1.

Here's more from Donna ...

TriangleMom2Mom: Tell us about yourself.

Donna: I am a native North Carolinian, born and raised in Johnston County (well, Benson, NC, to be exact) and an ECU Pirate with a degree in Business Administration.  I have been a lover of clothing since high school when my superlative was "Best Dressed."  Now as a mom, instead of always shopping for myself, I'm very content with buying clothes for my two daughters, Ashley (10) and Anna Cate (3), and sometimes for our cute doggie, Sylvia.

In addition to serving on the Hayes Barton Baptist Church KIDZ Stuff Consignment Planning Committee, I am also a senior technical recruiter for a consulting firm specializing in the IT, Engineering and Telecommunications arena.

I got started with the KIDZ Stuff consignment sale several years ago while volunteering at the sale so that I could shop early.  As a volunteer, you are able to earn an opportunity to shop early to make sure you don't miss out on that cute, smocked dress or whatever item you're seeking.  Later, I joined the committee in full force with my recruiting skills in action to secure vendors to advertise/sell their products at the consignment sale as well as assisting the publicity committee with marketing and advertising initiatives.  We now have about 12 craft or product vendors that host a table at the sale.  I really love the children's mission activities that we're able to support with the proceeds from our bi-annual sale.  It makes all the hard work totally worth the time invested and it's also neat to work with such a great group of ladies on our committee.  We have added so many new things to enhance our sale and the ideas just keep coming.  One of my favorites is the Express Check-out Lane for 10 items or less.

Mom2Mom: What's your favorite family place in the Triangle?

Donna: My kids LOVE to go to the North Regional Library and check out tons of books.  My older daughter likes all the chapter book series and the little one is into anything Princess, Dora or Berenstain Bears.

Mom2Mom: What's your favorite place for yourself in the Triangle?

Donna: I love to go to Talbot's when they're having a sale....I even do this when I'm in Richmond, VA visiting with family....we always go to Talbot's.

Mom2Mom: What's your favorite ritual with your kids?

Donna: Every Friday, we go to Chick-Fil-A before school and get our morning started off right with some Chick-n-Minis and Hash Browns.  Mom likes to add some Sweet Tea to her order.

Mom2Mom: What did you eat last night?  Can you share the recipe?

Donna: Pork Chops and Yellow Rice.  I just season the pork and cook it in a pan with some oil and my rice cooker helps me out with the Yellow Rice.

Mom2Mom: What's your guilty pleasure?

Donna: Probably going to the spa for a manicure and pedicure....then, of course, having a few hours to shop without someone calling me on my cell phone to see what time I'm coming home.
