Meet Greg!

Every Monday, TriangleMom2Mom usually features a local mom.

But today, in honor of Father's Day, we feature Greg Barbera, a stay-at-home dad in Durham. And, from time to time, we'll also feature other dads, grandparents and caregivers who play big roles in the lives of kids.

If you know somebody we should feature, e-mail me.

Mom2Mom: Tell us about yourself.

Greg: Pretty much kids by day and punk rock by night.

Mom2Mom: What's your favorite family place in the Triangle?

Greg: Since it's summer and 100 degrees out I'd have to say the pool at Meadowmont because it has got that lake/beach entry style which means I don't have to camp out by the steps in the three-foot end and prune up, but rather I can sit in a chair and watch over my kids as they navigate depths they are comfortable with without fear of drowning.

Mom2Mom: What's your favorite place for yourself in the Triangle?

Greg: Any library book sale. Because I love to read and $3 to $5 for a grocery bag full of books can't be beat.

Mom2Mom: What's your favorite ritual with your kids?

Greg: Telling them to brush their  teeth and flush the toilet. No seriously, we go over this every day.

Mom2Mom: What did you eat last night? Can you share the recipe?

Greg: A three bean salad recipe I got out of some, ahem, woman's magazine. Soy, garbanzo and kidney beans with thinly sliced red onion, lime zest, olive oil, salt, pepper, cilantro and fresh lime juice. You have to boil the soy beans for about five minutes, but that's all the "cooking" you need to do. So simple and so awesome!

Mom2Mom: What's your guilty pleasure?

Greg: Sleeping
