Meet Linda!

Linda Hadley is the TriangleMom2Mom mom of the week. She's one of two coordinators for The Friendship Closet, a semi-annual kids' and maternity consignment sale hosted by the Friendship Circle at Apex United Methodist Church. The next sale is this weekend.

Here's Linda ...

Mom2Mom: Tell us about yourself.

Linda: My husband Jeff and I have lived in Apex for 10 years. Our daughter Anna is 6, and our son Will is 3. I have been so fortunate to be at home with them! We attend Apex United Methodist Church and can pretty much be found there most days of the week!  I am a member of and serve as treasurer for the Friendship Circle, serve on the preschool board, and attend Alpha, Bible studies, NOOMA, and our playgroup that has been meeting for over six years now. I am a co-coordinator for our circle’s consignment sale, The Friendship Closet, coming up on August 7-8, and I am the treasurer for the Weekend of Grace, a 3-day golf/5k/bike tour event held in the spring to support the causes of health care, homelessness, and hunger.

My top priority now is The Friendship Closet, which is a semi-annual children’s and maternity consignment sale. Since we began The Friendship Closet, it has become our sole fund raising endeavor and supports several local women’s and children’s missions, including Christian Life Home, Methodist Home for Children, Helping Hand Mission, Wake Interfaith Hospitality Network, and Western Wake Crisis Ministries. Casey Purdy and I have always been active volunteers at the sale, but after the sudden passing of our dear friend and sale coordinator, Katy Williams, in November of last year, we were honored to take on the sale leadership with the help of a wonderful group of Friendship Circle women. You can find us at www.friendshipcloset.com.

Mom2Mom: What's your favorite family place in the Triangle?

Linda: We love the outdoor trails at the Raleigh Museum of Art, and you can’t beat a good day at the Farmer’s Market!

Mom2Mom: What's your favorite place for yourself in the Triangle?

Linda: I love to browse the bookstore with a good cup of coffee, and relax and read.

Mom2Mom: What's your favorite ritual with your kids?

Linda: Teaching them to cook! Anna and I made a mountain of gingerbread cookies last Christmas, and it became an instant tradition. The kids also love to help make smoothies in the morning, and Anna loves to make up her own recipes and sauces.

Mom2Mom: What did you eat for dinner last night? Can you share the recipe?

Linda: Last night my husband made breakfast for dinner – eggs, bacon, grits and toast. There’s nothing much better than breakfast for dinner!

Mom2Mom: What's your guilty pleasure?

Linda: A caramel latte made by my husband and some good chick-lit (thanks to my friend Wendy who got me hooked!). And in a perfect world, a nice, long nap for no reason at all.
