Meet Misty!

Misty Deyo is our TriangleMom2Mom mom of the week. I first met Misty by e-mail back in January when the Junior Woman's Club of Raleigh was planning its furniture and home interiors sale at the State Fairgrounds. Misty is chairwoman of the sale. We had some signals crossed (I'll take responsibility here), so I'm just getting around to featuring Misty here. But even though the sale is over, I still thought it would be great to feature Misty and the community-service oriented club.

Mom2Mom: Tell us about yourself.

Misty:
I moved to Raleigh from Asheville when I came to school at NC State in 1994. After graduation, I got my Masters in Communication Sciences and Disorders from East Carolina and spent eight years as a speech language pathologist in a local private practice. I now stay home with my beautiful, one-year old son, Evan, who both delights me and wears me out on a daily basis. In my spare time, I enjoy my service in the Junior Woman's Club of Raleigh. For more information about the Junior Woman's Club of Raleigh, go to its Web site at www.jwcraleigh.org.

Mom2Mom:
What's your favorite family place in the Triangle?

Misty: My husband, Eddie, and I love to take our son to the Farmers' Market. Not only can we find quality, locally grown produce for a great price, but Evan is all smiles as he interacts with the people and tastes the samples!

Mom2Mom: What's your favorite place for yourself in the Triangle?

Misty: My favorite place to be is either at Carter-Finley Stadium or the RBC Center watching the Pack play. If I'm not watching my alma mater, I also enjoy Hurricanes hockey. I have always loved sports, and I'm convinced it's the secret to my happy marriage!

Mom2Mom:
What did you eat for dinner last night? Can you share the recipe?

Misty: I had Paula Deen's pot roast last night for dinner. I don't want to face copyright infringement for publishing her recipe, but you can find it online. It was very yummy and easy. I love anything I can throw in the crock pot!

Mom2Mom: What's your guilty pleasure?

Misty:
Popcorn popped on the stove top with tons of salt and butter.

If you know a mom we should feature, e-mail me.
