Meet Sheon!
Sheon Ladson is our TriangleMom2Mom mom of the week. She's the fabulous stylist behind my makeover the other month and who will be in charge of your makeover if you win our mom makeover contest!
I thought you all might want to know more about Sheon. From working with her for the last decade, I can tell you she is very stylish. She makes all of us frumps in the newsroom really look like frumps. So here she is ...
Mom2Mom: Tell us about yourself.
Sheon: I'm an N&O copy editor and a journalist for 22 years. I'm a wife and mom (my husband, Anthony, a WTVD anchor and reporter, and I
celebrate our 15th anniversary this year, and my daughter, Ryan, turns 12 in June). I've been interested in fashion since I was a kid. I did actually sew outfits for my Barbies (lots of tube dresses, an occasional lumpy pant) and made clothes for myself in high school (not very well). I love beautiful clothes, and I try to wear something interesting every day. I started giving relatives and friends fashion advise years ago (sometimes unsolicited, I admit), and last year started offering makeovers to N&O readers. It's fun to pass on what I know about fashion and picking good-looking clothes.
Mom2Mom: What's your favorite family place in the Triangle?
Sheon: My family and I like Duke Gardens, where we can wander around and see beautiful things.
Mom2Mom: What's your favorite place for yourself?
Sheon: A fashion treasure hunt at Nordstrom Rack in Baltimore (we have family there), getting high-end shoes, bras and toiletries for a bargain price. Surprising, right?
Mom2Mom: What's your favorite ritual with your kids?
Sheon: I like sitting down for dinner with my husband and daughter, even if it's fast food grabbed on the way home.
Mom2Mom: What did you eat for dinner last night? Can you share a recipe?
Sheon: Takeout pizza (pepperoni, green peppers and mushrooms). It was only OK, so I won't say from where.
Mom2Mom: What's your guilty pleasure?
Sheon: I love junk TV; can watch it for hours.
If you know a mom we should feature, e-mail me.
