Meet Tammy!
Tammy Bunn is our TriangleMom2Mom mom of the week. I met her a couple of weeks ago after learning about her new kind of children's consignment sale where everything is done completely by barter. It starts Thursday.
Here's Tammy to tell you more ...
Mom2Mom: Tell us about yourself.
Tammy: I am the mom of five great kids and two great stepkids. I stay home with my daughter Jesse who will be 3 in June. We love to go to the park and we love to have "School Time." I am starting a new type of consignment sale for kids. It is exactly like your traditional consignment sale except there's no cash involved. It's called Barter 4 Kids. If you want to participate, you can go to the website and sign up. The deadline will be April 29, 2009. Drop off starts the next day. The website is www.barter4kids.com.
Here's how it works: You will receive a 100 percent full credit for your items that you bring to us and then you use your credit to shop for the clothes or items you kids need. We are accepting spring and summer clothing, toys, games, baby equimment, anything that a child can have fun with, etc.
If you happen to have a credit left over, then you can us it towards the next sale. I will hold an adult clothing sale if I can generate enough interest, please contact me if you would be interested. The next kids sale will be a BEFORE SCHOOL SALE in August, this way parents can do their school shopping by bartering. SAVE YOUR CASH FOR YOUR BILLS
Mom2Mom: What's your favorite family place in the Triangle?
Tammy: My favorite place in the Triangle is probably my home. We have a garden, a pool, a trampoline, and a play set, so everything is right here in our back yard and we can do all of our favorite activities here. With so many kids that are different ages it's really hard to get all of them together at one place and everyone be satisfied, so HOME is the place to be.
Mom2Mom: What's your favorite ritual with your kids?
Tammy: My favorite ritual with the kids would have to be dinner at 7 p.m. every night, because we watch Jeopardy (and have for about 15 years) and we see who can get the right "questions." It always winds up being my husband, but sometimes he lets us win. Also Jesse is a co-sleeper, which my husband and I both love, so that time is very precious to us every night.
Mom2Mom: What did you eat for dinner last night? Can you share the recipe?
Tammy: We had hamburgers on the grill for dinner last night. Just easy, some spices, the usual stuff and some home fries.
Mom2Mom: What's your guilty pleasure?
Tammy: My guilty pleasure, well I have a couple, I love to watch House, not real sure why, maybe because he's straight forward? I love chocolate, but it has to be dark. I love to listen to G105 with Bob, he's the best!! I even got my husband listening to the show, but NO kids in the car younger than 16.
If you know a mom we should feature, e-mail me.
