Meet Vickie!
Vickie Leff is our TriangleMom2Mom mom of the week. She's a Cary mom who started writing about running and fitness twice a month on Tuesdays on TriangleMom2Mom last month. Here's a little more about her today.
Here's Vickie ...
Mom2Mom: Tell us about yourself
Vickie: I’m a 52-year-old regular gal with two teenage kids, 13 and 15. We’ve lived in Cary for 12
years, transplanted from Boston, and love it. My LBK (life before kids) was as an Oncology Social Worker. I’ve been running for 30 years. Running has always helped with stress, I enjoy the alone time to think or sing to my iPod. Running has really helped me as a Mom. Reducing stress, getting time to decompress and having a goal for myself (road races) keeps me sane. I’m a back of the pack runner, I’m slow and I don’t care. My motto? Just don’t be last.
My book, RunnerMom, is available on Amazon.com and my Web site is www.runnermom.com.
Mom2Mom: What's your favorite family place in the Triangle?
Vickie: Having teenagers, the kids are out doing things with their friends a lot of the time. When they were little, we loved the Kids Together park!
Mom2Mom: What's your favorite place for yourself in the Triangle?
Vickie: Two places: I run along Cary Parkway, which sounds like a strange “favorite place”! and I love Torero’s Mexican Restaurant.
Mom2Mom: What's your favorite ritual with your kids?
Vickie: Driving them to school. We talk about the most interesting things.
Mom2Mom: What did you eat for dinner last night? Can you share the recipe?
Vickie: Chicken Marbella from the Silver Palette Cookbook. Happy to share.
Mom2Mom: What's your guilty pleasure?
Vickie: I really love a few reality shows: Hell’s Kitchen and Project Runway. Course, there’s always “Lost”…
