Mom with Ponytail

I sighed as I recently looked through the many websites that sell the windshield people stickers that are on the back of almost every minivan in the Triangle area. After months of begging, I had finally given into my kids and had agreed to adorn the back of the van with the stickers. I realized that since my minivan was already full of car seats, backpacks and goldfish crackers, putting the stickers on my back windshield really wasn’t going to diminish my non-existent "cool" factor very much.

The rest of the family had an easy time picking stickers for themselves. My daughter immediately fell in love with the princess girl while my son and husband went straight for the golfing people stickers. We were even able to find stickers that were the same breeds as our three dogs. But I just couldn’t find a sticker that I felt said "This is Jennifer."

I searched many websites looking for Writer Mom, but never found one that summed up my passion for writing. Laurel said that I should get Shopping Mom since I spent so much time at Target, but shopping is something I do so that my family doesn’t starve not as a hobby. Although many days, Vacuum Mom or Mop Mom definitely sums up my life that isn’t really the image I want to project as I drive down Capital Blvd. And I don’t think that the one fated yoga class that left me in tears qualifies me to put a Yoga Mom on the back of my car. I almost ordered Gardening Mom several times because I like the basket of flowers that she carries, but I always had a nagging doubt each time I went to buy it.

I finally decided that simplicity Mom with Ponytail represented me best. Each day I play so many roles and this simple image seemed to say it the best. Although at the last minute I was tempted to buy Referee Mom, I smiled as hit the Order button.

From Trike to Two Wheeler

Jennifer Gregory left Florida almost 11 years ago to escape the heat and enjoys living in a place where the seasons change. She lives in Youngsville, N.C., which she usually refers to as north of Wake Forest, and has been married to her husband for almost 10 years.  As the mom of two kids and three dogs, her house is filled with lots of joyful noise and barking.  Her daughter (7) is convinced that she will be a princess when she grows up and her son (5) has aspirations of being the next Dale Jr. After years of writing software documentation for various companies, she "retired" when her daughter was born to become a stay at home mom. Now that her kids are in school, she has finally figured out what she wants to be when she grows up.  She spends her mornings as a freelance writer and her afternoons hanging out with her kids.  The only things she misses about living in Florida are her friends and family, Publix fried chicken and going to Florida Gator football games.

Jennifer appears Mondays on TriangleMom2Mom.

Minivans are cool

Perhaps you or someone else could explain how those stickers have become so popular. I mean no disrespect, but I see them everywhere and I just don't see the appeal.

Mandy, No disrrespect taken at all! I resisted getting them for the longest time, then I decided what the heck, I already had a minivan. But once we got them, I have to say that it is has been a fun way to personalize the car. And it sure makes it easier to find in a parking lot since I think that my make and color van must be the most popular in the area. We have the breeds of our dogs on the car and we get questions about them some. I have to say that I'm glad we got them and it has been fun.

gotta do something with my old minivan. It's more usually full of me and the three dogs these days than kids, so maybe I'll go with the dog stickers.

A1Mama, they have stickers for pretty much every breed of dog. We even found a fishtank to put on the back of our car. I"ve seen other vans with just pets on them also.

Ya know now that I think about it, I've never seen the stickers on a car, just vans. Anyone else seen them on cars?

Maybe it's the Baby On Board version for people with older kids!

LOL, Pamela! I think you are right. I make fun of the Baby on Board signs, but it is EXACTLY the same thing.
