Favorite children's picture book is "Please Puppy Please".
I there really a Human Race? by Jamie Lee Curtis
I just love the Chris VanAlsburg's books and reading them outloud to the kids. My favorite: Just a Dream -- such a great lesson for all of us!
My favorite is Where the Wild Things Are.
I loved all of the Billy and Blaze books because I was horse crazy even at a young age.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs--so excited they finally made a movie of it!
Pop-up picture books have always been a favorite for me, hadn't really thought about it, but we don't have any, and I never had any either.
Loved the Anne of Green Gables series....even named my daughter after one of the characters in the book!
As a child I couldn't get enough of The Boxcar Children series. I still remember my second grade teacher reading the first Boxcar Children book to us and I was hooked every since then. It is a series I will definitely pass on to my son.
I loved the Nancy Drew Series as a kid & saved all my ND's to pass down to my girls.
Has to be Where the Wild Things Are. My husband and I read it so often to our first son that we could tell it to him verbatim when we were on vacation without the book. I'd read a page and then my husband would read a page and some pages we'd read in unison. My husband even made up rhythmical words for the three pages that don't have words!
My favorite as a kid was Tikki Tikki Tembo... my favorite now as an adult is The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein.
My favorite children's book is The Little Prince. As a child I actually bought the library's copy since I didn't understand another way to get a copy for myself. Maybe I'd never heard of a bookstore! Anyways, the children's book my boys enjoy reading the most is Yummy, Yucky. The best line that always gets a laugh is, "Burgers are Yummy. Boogers are Yucky" It cracks them (and me) up every time!
My favorite children's book was the Runaway Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown. I love the story and the illustrations are beautiful.
My favorite book was "Anne of Green Gables" . . . and the rest of the series. They took me to a simple time where I was allowed to (even temporarily) live a life full of imagination and childhood freedom. I grew up with Anne - and I still cherish the origiinal books I bought of the series.
My favorite book from elementary age childhood was the Wide Mouthed Frog. I imitate the way my teacher read it when I read it to my son now. My favorite now is the Phantom Tollbooth.
My favorite book was a seasonal one - "Santa Mouse" by Michael Brown. I can still recite it word for word.
My favorite- is Goodnight Moon- I still read it to my kids- and I think I enjoy it more than they do. I love how 1/2 the book is in color and 1/2 in black and white.
I thought I was the only one that still remembered that series!!! I have finally gotten my 12 yr old daughter interested in it- but I check them out for myself- it reminds me of growing up in the country- and pretending I was solving mysteries !!!
When I was growing up I loved Encyclopedia Brown and the Babysitter's Club series.
Now, my favorites to read to my kids are Pinkalicious and The Mightiest.
My all time favorite book I read as a child was James and the Giant Peach.
I absolutely love the book, "Popcorn": A Frank Asch Bear Story. I remember having my parents read it over and over to me when I was little kid. I hope my parents still have it, because I know my son is going to love it too.
When I was very young my parents had a volume that had about 20 stories they would read to us and that was my favorite book to be read from. When I was old enough to read on my own I had a copy of Shel Silverstein's A Light in the Attic that was my favorite.
I loved The Secret Garden, Charlotte's Web and reading biographies.
My all time favorite children's books were the Nancy Drew mysteries. I believe that I wear glasses today because of those books. When I was in the fifth grade my bedroom was on the back of the house where we had our own light pole. When I went to bed I would open the slants of my blinds to let that light in to read my latest Nancy Drew. I still drool a little bit when I see them. As a teacher when I taught fourth and fifth grade I would have a Nancy Drew reading war with my girls to inspire reading in them and to give myself a reason to enjoy my favorite childhood books.
