Mommy's group - ideas for a night or afternoon out (without the kids!!)

I am part of a small Mommy's group based in Nash County (from Rocky Mount to just east of Raleigh). It's my month to plan and I was thinking of doing something in Raleigh (I work in Raleigh and the options of things to do are much better than Rocky Mount). I know that there are several Mommy Groups listed on this website, but my group meets once a month (different members plan each month) and I would like something creative and reasonably priced to plan for the other members? Any ideas??
Or if I have it at my house, any ideas about thing to do?? Games, Thanksgiving/holiday crafts??
Thanks!
Megan

Hi Megan!

I created my website, Triangle TRACKS at www.triangletracks.com, to consolidate links to all of the resources for kids in the Triangle in one place. You can browse 22 categories of resources with 1,800 links. You can also click on "Calendar" to see what's happening in the area at the time you are planning to arrive. Good luck with your plans and I hope you find this useful!

Without the kids ... (can I come) :)

I like food - so I always think a nice lunch/dinner out is fun and lunch is always a little cheaper than dinner even at nicer restaurants.

In Raleigh, restaurants that come to mind first are places like Vivace's (http://www.vivaceraleigh.com/menu.html#lunch) in North Hills (then you can do a movie do a little shopping too) or Porter's on Hillsborough Street by N.C. State (http://www.porterstavern.com/menu.html).

Caffe Luna in downtown isn't bad either - http://www.cafeluna.com - though they only have lunch M-F.

There's always the mall - and Triangle Town Center has that Screamin Mimi's place where you could drop off the kids (though I've never done this - anybody had experience with it?).

There's always the Raleighwood Theatre - food and a movie: http://www.raleighwoodmovies.com/

Primp Salon Bar would be a little bit of a splurge - but it's drinks and mani/pedis: http://www.primpsalonbar.com/services.aspx

And if it's at home - I always like game nights - cranium, pictionary ... maybe a scavenger hunt for moms? That could be fun.
