Morning movies for moms

Before I became a mom and had three months of maternity leave in front of me, I remember seeing movie theaters advertise morning movies for moms where you could go see regular movies (not kid ones) in the mornings, bring the babies, and everybody was OK with the occasional crier. (Like this but closer than the west coast!)

But now I can't find anything about any of those. I thought I remembered that the Lumina did it, but all I see on their site is the kid movies in the summer.

Anybody know of a theater around here that does it?

I believe the Raleigh Grand does this up off Glenwood Avenue though I cruised their Web site and couldn't find a mention quickly: www.raleighgrande.com

Not exactly what you're looking for but the Raleighwood has $2.50 family matinees Monday through Friday: http://www.raleighwoodmovies.com/

The movie theater at Southpointe in Durham was this at one time. Not sure if they are still doing it, but you might want to call and find out. I don't think it was well advertised when they were doing it before, but perhaps if there was some interest.........

Seems like a lot of places used to, and nobody does anymore. Here's what the Raleigh Grande had to say:

Thank you for inquiring about our "Movie Mom's" program. At one point we had a program like this that allowed parents to bring young children into movies (generally rated PG or PG-13) without having to worry about the distraction that might be associated with that. We would turn the lights up a bit and turn down the volume a little to better accommodate families. Unfortunately when this building was owned by Regal Entertainment Group they opted to discontinue the program and interest was lost. However, Carolina Cinemas and the Raleigh Grande is looking into starting this program up, possibly right after summer.

In the mean time I would like to make sure you are aware of our Free Summer Film Festival. Every summer we play 16 childrens movies for free. I hope you come out and check out some of the great films we will be playing. I have attached a schedule for these films. My plan is to use these free showings to advertise our movie mom program that we hope to "reboot" after the summer.

Thank you again for taking the time to inquire about this.
