Off to North Carolina
Featured blogger Amy Williamson will appear every Wednesday.
Before the ACC basketball tournament started a few weeks ago, my officemate informed Virginia Tech was 4th in the ACC.
“So what does that mean exactly?” was my response.
As you can tell, I am not from North Carolina and basketball is not something a graduate from Virginia Tech is used to discussing. My husband and I met while attending Virginia Tech. After living in Virginia our entire lives, we relocated our family to Holly Springs almost two years ago. We wanted to escape the traffic and noise and the higher possibility of snow.
And our only regret now is that we did not do it sooner. My husband is a real estate agent. I work full time in finance in the healthcare industry. We have two daughters. Ashley will be five in July and start kindergarten in the summer/fall. Audrey just turned two.
And they absolutely keep me on my toes.
I can sing all the songs to High School Musical — one and two. I am an expert at walking our dachshund Tootles while carrying Audrey, chatting with a neighbor, and keeping an eye on Ashley running down the street after friends. And I can cook dinner, hand out chocolate and find that one episode of the Backyardigans where Tasha is a princess on the DVR, all at the same time.
I spend my Thursday nights at the Holly Springs Cultural Center practicing my bassoon for the Holly Springs Community Band. We play concerts once a quarter and by request. My kids love the concerts and seeing me play, which I hope will translate into them being band geeks in school just like their Mom was.
I love to cook and would try a new recipe every night, but I am not sure my family would agree. Unless all the recipes had chocolate in them.
We thought we would come to North Carolina for a slower paced life from what we had in Virginia. What we found was still a hectic life, just in a much more enjoyable place.

Has anyone asked you for an autograph yet? I was uncharacteristically at Crabtree today and thought that someone might recognize me...NOT!
