Putumayo Kids Sesame Street Playground
I want my daughter to know that there's much more to the world than her little corner in Raleigh.
"Sesame Street Playground: Songs and Videos from Around the World," the latest collection of music from Putumayo Kids, has helped me strike up lots of conversations with her. And, thankfully, the music is fun to listen to.
The CD features 13 songs from Sesame Streets from around the world. Two come from the U.S. version - "Elmo's Song" and, my favorite all-time Sesame song, "Sing."
But the best part of the CD are the songs from the international shows, including the incredibly catchy "Galli Galli Sim Sim" from India. My daughter sings along to the chorus. And we crack up as we try to sing along to the Chinese version of "Rubber Duckie" in English.
The CD comes with a DVD featuring videos of a handful of the songs. Kids will love seeing puppets that sort of look like Big Bird or Cookie Monster's cousins and watching kids from other countries sing along.
The collection comes with some extensive liner notes with information about Sesame Street's international versions. All make for some great ways to strike up conversations about the world with your kids.
