Riding in the Back of Pickup Trucks

State legislators are considering a bill that would keep children under the age of 16 from riding in a pickup truck. Right now the limit is age 12.

According to the Child Fatality Task Force, eight children died and 127 were injured in pickup truck accidents between 2002 and 2006 - a figure which actually surprised me.

In one case, a girl died while she was riding in the back of a pickup that had an accident, the story said. She had just passed the five-year mark of survival from brain cancer.
