Spoons and Cups

I scratch my head in puzzlement about twice a day. This happens almost on a daily basis. The first brow furrow occurs when I start loading the dishwasher. I'm loading and loading....what, you might inquire, am I loading? CUPS. Many, many cups in differing assorted colors, shapes and sizes! Now, I only have 3 children. Why am I loading 38 cups into the dishwasher every day? Maybe the next question I should ask is, why do I OWN 38 cups? Ah, yes....it's because I kept running out of cups b/c they are usually all in the dishwasher. I'm thinking that I should throw away ALL my cups and just have 3. Think of all the water we'll save!

So, my second conundrum occurs when I open the silverware drawer to grab a spoon......but there aren't any spoons there! I check the dishwasher, still no spoons! Are the cups eating the spoons and multiplying? I usually find spoons in the oddest places. In the sandbox, in the toy box, under the couch cushions....etc. How do I find the perfect amount of spoons and cups to balance each other out?

And why am I spending so much time thinking about this? Look at me! I'm writing about it! That's okay. I'm sure that someday there will be only 2 cups at the end of the day and I'm sure that when I'm loading them, they'll look very lonely and forlorn in the vast expanse of the top of the dishwasher. There will come a day when all my spoons will be neatly stacked in the drawer anticipating my every stirring need. But when that day comes, I'll wistfully remember chuckling and pulling spoons out of the cushions and the bathtub toy box.

The days are long, but the years are short.

I had this same problem-Get plastic cups and write their initials on them and make them use the same one throughout the day.

We went through the same thing. The bottom rack of the dishwasher would be empty while the top was lined with cups. I don't like to run the dishwasher unless it's full so I'd have to pull a few cups out and hand wash them for the day.

Finally did as lilybug suggested; try to keep them to one cup a day. At the end of the day, I'd place only those on the dishwasher. It helped!
