Taking the day off for Mother's Day?

Well, I did it again this year: I promised myself I was going to take the day off in honor of Mother's Day. The funny thing is, it really isn't possible!  I did cut back on some stuff I normally do, and my son washed my car for me as his gift to me, but when I tried to just sit and relax on the front porch with the puppies, I found myself restless, and wandering in and out of the house.  It struck me, then, being a mother isn't a job, its an innate sense. You know:  sight, smell, taste, touch, hearing, and mothering.  I decided maybe I didn't really want to take the day off after all!  So I reveled in my motherhood, and took pride in the awesome job I have!

Well said! How do you "not be a mother" for a day? Impossible!
