Thomas the Tank Engine

Thomas (if you don't know who he is, you don't have kids) will be chugging into Tweetsie Railroad from May 30 to June 8.

Tweetsie is a theme park in Blowing Rock about three to four hours from the Triangle. I've never been, but it's one of those places I'd like to take my daughter before she gets too old. She loves trains and all things Thomas.

There are lots of opportunities to hop on a train here in the Triangle that don't require a long car ride. Se our  trains resource page. But this looks like it might be a fun way to spend a weekend.

Tickets are $30 for adults and $22 for kids ages 3 to 12. The event includes a 25-minute ride with Thomas, an opportunity to meet Sir Topham Hatt, storytelling and more.

If you can't make it as far as Tweetsie you can also see Thomas at the NC Transportation Musuem in Salisbury. We have been the past four years and have had a ball. There are lots of things to do from bubbles, sidewalk chalk, story telling slides, songs and of course a ride on the famous Thomas the Tank. It makes for a wonderful day. He is usually there the last weekend in Sept. and the First weekend in Oct. Make your reservations to ride soon as it fills up fast. We usually went on Thurs. night and spent Friday there to avoid the crowds on Saturday.
My son was really into Thomas from the age of 18 months until 5 1/2. Even though he is now slowly getting out of the thomas stage he just won't let go of him completly. He still has his Thomas comforter and his stuffed thomas pillow. Thanks Thomas for 4 wonderful years.
