Triangle Easter Guide
So here's your guide to all things Easter in the Triangle ... or at least all things Easter that have to do with the Easter Bunny and all the countless egg hunts in the area.
Below you'll find a list of when, where and whether you can take your own photos of your little ones and the Bunny at area malls. Click here for a full list of Easter egg hunts and related events across the Triangle.
A couple words on the hunts: Don't get there late. These mad dashes for candy can last just a few minutes, so a few minutes late means you may have missed it. And if you have more than one child, check the rules on the hunt you're headed to. There may be two separate hunts for your kids because of their ages, which means you may need more than one adult to follow the kids around. And one final note: Apex canceled its egg hunt this year because of budget woes.
And check back because the list will be updated regularly.
Crabtree Valley Mall, Raleigh: Have breakfast with the Easter Bunny from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., March 21, in the food court. There will be giveaways and breakfast provided free to kids from Panera Bread and Chick-fil-A. Then head over to the promotional court to get your picture with the Bunny. Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday, with breaks from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. It's noon to 6 p.m., Sundays, with a break from 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Bunny will be at Crabtree through April 11. It is free to visit with him and you can take your own photos for free outside of the front of the Bunny set near the cash register. Photo packages start at about $12.
Cary Towne Center, Cary: The Bunny will be at center court March 21 to April 11. Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday (with "carrot breaks" from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.) and noon to 6 p.m., Sunday, with a break from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Visits are free, but there is a charge for photos.
Northgate Mall, Durham: The mall's Easter parade begins in front of Macy's at 10:45 a.m., March 21. Greet the Easter Bunny as he heads up the parade and march with him through the entire mall. Photos begin at 11 a.m. near center court in front of Charlotte Russe. Photo hours through April 11 are Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and noon to 6 p.m. There's usually a lunch break around 1 p.m. and another 15-minute break in the late afternoon. Packages start at about $10.
Triangle Town Center, Raleigh: Photos begin March 21 and run through April 11. Still waiting to learn the hours, though they generally are the same as Cary Towne Center's.
The Streets at Southpoint, Durham: Our carrot-chomping hero will be at center court from March 28 to April 11. Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday, with breaks at 1 p.m. to 2 p.m .and 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday hours are noon to 6 p.m. with breaks from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. You can take your own photos, though I'm told that most people end up buying them. A sit on the lap also is free. Check the mall's Web site later this month for a coupon.
North Hills, Raleigh: The Bunny will be hanging out mostly in the commons area from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., April 4 and April 11. There will be giveaways for kids. We went to see Santa at North Hills this past Christmas and if a Bunny visit is anything like the visit with Santa, then this is low key and worth a stop.
Crossroads Plaza, Cary: The outdoor mall will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt and visit with the Bunny from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., April 11. There will be rides, music, games, prizes and separate hunts for ages 1 to 3, 4 to 7 and 8 plus. It's all next to Dick's Sporting Goods and REI. Bring your camera for a photo.
Carolina Premium Outlets, Smithfield: No appearance from the Bunny, but unlike most malls, it will be open on Easter Sunday, April 12, from noon to 6 p.m. Click here for a list of stores that will be open.
