Voted Yet?

Have you voted yet? What was it like? Do you plan to vote early? Or will you (like me) be heading to the polls on Tuesday?

Anybody not planning to vote?

I voted today. It was very easy. The hardest part was waiting in line 2 hrs with two babies under 15 months! Other than that it was tell the people your name, they look you up (kinda like a check in), then head over to a tall booth to cast your vote in private. Just bubble in who you'd like to win. Very easy. It was my first time voting and I had no idea what to expect. It was simple!!
Have fun voting on Tuesday!

Two hours?! I've been nervous that I'm going to be stuck in a long line on Tuesday, but maybe with everybody early voting I'll be one of the only ones there!

Anybody else have a similar wait?

Conversation with my daughter this morning after she went to vote with her dad around 7:15.

Me: So were there a lot of people?

Daughter: Yes. There were a lot of people.

Me: How long did you have to wait in line?

Daughter: We didn't have to wait in line but there were a lot of people waiting.

Me: Huh?

My husband clarifies: There were a lot of people - a lot of poll workers and people outside campaigning and waiting for voters to come in.

He didn't have to wait in line to vote this morning and I only had one person ahead of me when I voted at 10:30. Very easy.

I had NO wait. Breezed in and out in 5 mins. I was so confused about people standing in line for hours to early vote. But then again, I'm often confused. LOL.

Did Kids Voting along with regular big-people voting. No wait at all. Maybe I will blog about this Kids Vote thing. It's pretty ingenius -- it gets the kids all pumped up.

Thanks to all those folks who went to vote early. It save procrastinators like me a long wait. I was at the end of the morning "rush hour" and was in and out in 30 minutes. And since I didn't vote straight party a good chunk of that time was actually in the voting booth.

Now I got my sticker and I'm off to Starbucks for my free coffee.

My daughter loved the Kids Voting - my husband said she basically voted for all the "mommies" as she calls them - the women.

This was the first year that I didn't vote straight ticket. But I printed up a ballot before I went, and filled it out at home, so I'd have a cheat sheet. Then I was still able to whiz through it when i got there. Honestly, I was in and out in minutes. Then again, I've NEVER waited at the polls. Anyway, we took the kids to starbucks after!

Lilybug - Perhaps the wait at Starbucks was longer than the wait to vote? LOL

I early voted at Cary Town Center and was in and out in 20 minutes. But that was two weeks ago before the idea caught on and the lines got longer and longer. My kids (12 and 15) have learned so much from this election. Right now I feel embarrassingly proud of our democracy....such that it is....we could argue electoral college all day.

I agree that my kids also learned alot. They are at ages (7-12) where even four years ago they couldn't grasp it all. BUt this election we've talked so much more about the process and they all went with us to vote. We all sat around the living room last night by the fire watching the returns and it was so exciting! They knew that no matter who won we were witnessing history, though it was a little disappointing that after all the talk about NC votes counting, they again, didn't count...ughh....FYI, www.whitehouse.gov has a tour of the white house that my kids found interesting. It shows panaoramic views of many of the rooms, and Bush narrates part of it, and well, it's just cool. My only thoughts on the final election results, are that I hope people remember that no person in this world has as much power to change your life as YOU do. That's great that so many people have confidence that "big changes" are in store, (though the libertarian in me isn't so sure), but I do believe we can do so much more for ourselves and each other than any leader can!
