Wall-E
Anyone take their kids to see Wall-E today? I'm wondering if it's suitable for a 3-year-old.
How old was your child when you first took them to the movies?
I think it would be fun, but I don't want to waste the money if he's too young...

I haven't seen Wall-E yet. I was hoping my 3 year old would want to see it, but apparently when the preview for it came on when DH and my son were at the movies (for Kung Fu Panda) my child expressed his desire to NOT see that movie.
In answer to the "how old" question though, I think 3 is fine for movies, so long as you don't mind the possibility of him changing his mind about seeing it ;-) I do think there are some summer movies going on at a discount or free in the Raleigh area. I just can't remember where or when. Maybe someone else around here knows? Oh, here's a link! A friend of mine went to one recently and said it was much less crowded than she expected it to be.
My son has so far seen VeggieTales Pirates Who Don't Do Anything (a couple of times), Kung Fu Panda, and Shrek 3 in the theater. He loves it!
Stacie - Mom to two boys
My 3 year old boy also loved the movies you mentioned, but both my 3 and 6 year old were not impressed with Wall-E. There were loud storm clouds several times with accompanying music impending destruction and doom... That did not go over too well. After about 30 minutes, he said "I'm ready to go home," and my 6 year old agreed. There is not a lot of color or humor in the beginning. The setting is the earth in a state of abandonment. Nothing exists but an empty city full of trash, and a trash cleaning robot that doesn't speak. In fact, there is no speaking for at least the first half hour. Needless to say, I was not impressed either.
