What is considered a well balanced lunch?

I have been packing my kids lunches this year, since we now have 2 kids in school. But last year, for the most part, Nick bought lunch.

My question is, what does WCPSS consider healthy? What I am talking about, is the days he would have nachos with cheese, 4 cheese sticks, or other things like that.

I just don't see how 4 cheese sticks will fill the average kid! Though Nick does not eat much, and if you have ever seen him, you can tell lol, but four cheese sticks? Nachos? Those are snacks, not lunch!?

I think they are served with fruit, a vegetable and milk. Usually three items total and milk. (I THINK)

Here is the school lunch menu: http://www.wcpss.net/child-nutrition/school_menus.html

My daughter's daycare used to serve the same lunches the schools got and I've got to say really none of it looked very appetizing. At least I don't see Turkey Fryz on there. Those were really gross.
