What to do when it's cold

The folks at Be Active North Carolina, who answer monthly questions for TriangleMom2Mom, share some tips on getting the kids outside when it's cold. Good luck!

Q. What kind of outdoor activities are best when it's cold and wet outside?

A. If it’s wet, you may need to keep your kids inside, although consider just putting them in rain coats!  There are also lots of active board games to play, such as Twister.  If you need to stay inside and you all have cabin fever, walk around the mall, go to the bowling alley or skating rink, or visit a nearby museum.  If it’s snowy, enjoy the weather, but remember your kids might be having too much fun to tell you if they’ve gotten too cold or hungry, so set regular breaks into the day.  If it’s very cold, bundle up with extra layers!  Go hiking, climb trees, ride bicycles, or go to the park, just like you would in warmer weather.
